Barbarians
Who hurt you?
“Yes, his prophecies resonate because Christ, the same Christ orthodox Jews disrespect by calling him a liar and a fake, fulfilled them.”
You mean, an entire valley of dried bones came back to life? Now that’s a new testament on me. I do not believe in Jesus. That’s my opinion, not “disrespect”. But I don’t go into churches and urinate on the altar, or insist that they be changed into synagogues. That is disrespect. Do you grasp the distinction?
“The same disrespect Catholics have for the pagan shrines that now serve as Cathedrals. But that disrespect is fine by you.”
And this happened, what? Last week? Oh, over a thousand years ago! Gee. I’m real upset about the rights of those pagans who lived centuries ago. Therefore, let’s countenance the same thing these days.
“You hypocrites are all the same. Pour all the superstitious fervor you want on the heap of dirt and magic bones. If your pathetic religion is so weak it can be destroyed by a pick and shovel like the idols toppled and burned by the Hebrews in the land of Canaan, anyone with an ounce of brain will mock it.”
Now you’re incoherent. Jewish holy sites have been desecrated and coopted throughout the ages. Our holiest shrine is presently being used as a Mosque, and Jews are not allowed to even pray on the Temple Mount adjacent to it. Until 1967, no Jew was allowed to enter the Me’arat Hamachpela in Hebron, or go higher than the seventh step. Joseph’s Tomb in Shechem (Nablus) was filled with garbage and set fire to, as Arabs beat the burning roof with their shoes. Judaism lives on. Even so, that doesn’t mean we wear a big “desecrate my holy sites” sign on our backs; just the usual bull’s eye. And thank you, I’d prefer very much that Ezekiel’s grave not be coopted, too.
