come on people....please give....we can support every candidate in far away states and we CAN certainly support the great FR!
One of the most empowering things about the internet to entrepreneurs is the lucrative prospect of gaining enough notoriety on the web to attract advertisers. They spend a lot of time and money to sell a new idea or information service to hopefully someday break that threshold of page views that makes the site a good investment for businesses who are trying to expand themselves.
Seems to me that Free Republic broke that threshold a long time ago, but appears to still be operating like it’s struggling for viewers... and we know that’s not the case.
Considering the obvious success of this web site, it’s operation, and vast importance in this political age,
it would sure be a shame not to capitalize on it.
Besides... I for one would sure not mind seeing some banner advertisements at the beginning of each thread OTHER than “Please Donate to FR”. It makes the site look weak, and I personally believe that you stand to get FAR more money from advertisers than from a handful of faithful freepers.
What’s wrong with making a buck??? Isn’t that what this is all about?
Go Getem Tiger!
Well, we’d like to remain noncommercial if possible. And also unbeholden to outsiders.
Thank you very much, Safrguns!!
I agree with you.
I do not have an issue with ads, as long as they are not too interfering.
But I am a relative newbie, in that I only have recently posted.
Other Freepers may have different opionions.
I’m back, I’m monthly, I’m dollar a day.....
I’m bad and nation-wide....

I come here for the real news.....
>>> Well, wed like to remain noncommercial if possible. And also unbeholden to outsiders.
Why? Capitalism is NOT a charity.
As for being “unbeholden”, there is always strength in numbers. Is there a limit on how many different advertisers you can have? Besides... disclaimers for advertisers is commonplace. Everyone understands that advertisers don’t necessarily subscribe to any or all views expressed. If that were the case, then Rush would be out of business.
Woo hoo!!
Please add leapfrog0202 to the Dollar-a-Day Club!!
Thank you very much, leapfrog0202!! Welcome to the club!!
I click the donate link and I get an “unable to connect” message from my Firefox browser. I checked my “no scripts” settings and don’t see anything blocked.
