***A U.S. official in Washington said the father’s concerns were shared among those in the embassy, including liaison personnel from other agencies based there, such as the FBI. The alert was then relayed to Washington and again shared among agencies such as the State, Justice and Homeland Security departments, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the investigation.***
Ouch, this one will hurt someone.
So the Obama administration was told about this threat and it did nothing about it. Listen to the excuses that they give.
Recall the same people blaming the World Trade Center attack on Bush, because it happened 8 months into his presidency.
Obama has been president 11 months.
The AP reporting.
Double ouch.
Napolitano to be the fall “guy”
“Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s father first reached out to Nigerian security agencies two months ago and a month later to foreign security agencies”
“U.S. authorities said that in November, Abdulmutallab’s father visited the U.S. embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, to discuss his concerns about his son’s religious beliefs.”
Tough pinning this one on Bush.
I somehow doubt they will turn this into the same kind of disaster Katrina was for Bush. But Napolitano’s “system worked” comment seems to be going over about as well as Brownie’s “heckuva job.”
we need to get this man into a witness protection program in a safe third-country. Now that AQ knows he dropped a dime on his terrorist son his head won’t remain attached for long if he stays in Nigeria.
OMG!
Now we know why Obama has remained silent!
The buck stops where? Remind me please!
Looks like it. I don’t think she can survive this. It’s both a major homeland security disaster and PR blunder.
Poor dad. Worried for his son’s whereabouts and safety, worried what horror his son will do, talking to the bureaucratic hand and getting nowhere.
What time do we expect the video of “the buck stops with me” 0bama’s statement?
Oh my...lol. That speech detailing the faults of the previous administration has just hit the shredder.

Christians, veterans and constitutionalists present a serious potential terrorist threat . . . awww just kidding.
Swine flu, I mean, H1N1 will be the next bubonic plague and we must prepare for an emergency . . . uh, just kidding.
This system worked splendidly . . . errr . . just kidding.
C’mon guys, it is not like any of this is real! Just wait till we have a genuine disaster, one I can really work with, huh?
November? Really? That’s the AP spin. Here’s the African and UK reports:

Ms. Homeland Security should have the guts to resign. Truly. Her public comments are laughable at first- until you realize they represent the mind-set of these people in charge. Lie, deflect, redirect and avoid ownership.
What are their first thoughts when being presented with a crisis? I’ll wager it’s NOT what do I/we do to ensure the safety of my fellow citizens. It’s more like- how do I cover for us? How do I put this in a good light for us and a bad light for anyone who calls us on it?
You’re exactly right. They’re first reaction was political, NOT national security.
He’s about to issue a taped statement. A TAPED statement.
