The Fat Police can stuff it. Americans eat what they want. If we want that Whataburger; we are going to have that Whataburger.

Im sick of the food nazis.
Well, they may be around, but that wasn't what happened here... LOL...
Apparently Whataburger decided that this "limited edition burger" had reached the "end of the line" and it was time to retire it, so they put out a "notice of retirement"... :-)
Since 1998, Whataburger has heard from legions of loyal fans who have patiently awaited the annual return of one of the companys most popular limited availability burgers. And though some have petitioned Whataburger to keep the burger on menus permanently, the love for the A.1.® Thick & Hearty Burger® has waned and so it is time to move on.

LOL... that's not what this was about...
It's a PR campaign for the "retirement" of a "limited edition burger"... :-)

I’m gonna have to do it, then... :-)

I don’t get it. It is apparent that there is a market for the item (even just gauging the comments here ;), and their products are “made to order” so it isn’t like they have to fear excess inventory, so what’s the beef (ha-ha)?
Are they caving to external diet-nazi pressures?

No, they're simply doing a "marketing campaign" out of a discontinued item... LOL...
And that's pretty smart, actually. I think most companies just quietly discontinue something when it's not selling. These guys, apparently, are having it go out with a [marketing] boom... :-)
See Post #39
Just think of it as a "hamburger retirement party"... LOL...

I always thought that "Orange W" was a terrible looking logo, but I've gotten more used to it these days... :-)

I grew up in a small town just north of Corpus. I have been eating Whataburgers since I can remember. Back in those days they just had one size burger - BIG. Once a month it was a treat to eat there; Dad would order four “sissy burgers”, the kids & Mother ate a half of one and Dad ate one & a half. We would bring a Whataburger gallon jug with us and they filled it with Root Beer for $.15.

Carls Jr. has just opened a place near me.We don't have "In&Out" or "Whataburgers" in KC, but we do have Hardees, which is owned by Carl's Jr. And I really like them. Their burgers are pretty darned good. Plus, I love the fact that they'll use meat as a condiment! They had a "Philly Steak & Cheese Burger" that had a 1/3 pound burger, plus roast beef & cheese, with a side of au jus! It was actually pretty good!
And I love their commercials, especially the ones with Padma!

For those unfamiliar with Five Guys the fries are fresh potatoes with appellation (Todays potatoes are from: .....) A small fries can easily serve two people and often three or four.I'll have to check them out... They recently opened one in Lee's Summit, MO, near my home.
