(Look familiar?)

You’re actually on to something: after all, not all of us are Social Conservatives, some of us believe in small government, period, and not government pushing ANY social theories, no matter how benign. . . Nose of the camel, and all that follows. .

No. Religious Conservative, at least in the US, equates to the Christian Right. With all that it entails. You realize you aren't making any sense, right? "He's religious and he's a conservative, but he's not a 'religious conservative.'"
Some of us separate the practice of faith from practice of politics, rendering unto Caesar what is Caesars, and unto the Lord what is His. . . .
Which is why we're in the mess we're in today. If you separate your religious faith from the rest of life, odds are you don't actually believe that stuff to begin with.
"Render unto Caesar" is terrible advice, and another reason why I maintain that America's religious fundamentalists are practicing the wrong religion.
And btw, your friend steve-b was as loud as anyone on this forum, and often trumpeted his "religion" in order to slam creationists.

“I said nothing of the sort. I specifically said that the YEC types are probably types who live in isolated communities where the only types of Christians they see in their everyday lives are fellow “bible literalists” and they rarely, if ever, encounter Catholic or Orthodox Christianity.”
Our homeschool group is about 60% Catholic. They even attended a YEC course that I taught. It made for some interesting conversation. We are even still really good friends.

They even attended a YEC course that I taught. So you reckon the Earth is 6000 years old and dinosaurs rode on the Ark?
How do you teach a thing like that? What evidence is there to support it?

Do you think that your God-given free speech rights are protected on Free Republic?

are reading something into my post that was not the topic
No, didn't read anything 'into' it. I read it as it was written. I did add the part of being a DOER - that was not your topic - yet, an important part of love. I added it for completeness. The place of a 'salty' Christian being not only a knower but a doer has it's place in the 'love' scriptures you posted.

Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site...That gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling every time I come to it.
Thanks, Jim.

Actually, most Christians I know don’t like the *X* abbreviation for *Christ*.
They feel it’s nor respectful enough.

You will notice that xcamel has not offered anything even approaching an apology for this statement,
One reason - xcamel finds nothing wrong w/it - and 'its' in 'goad mode'. As of now, the heat isn't up high enough to turn the 'toast' to 'burnt'.
To: xcamel
Sorry I wouldn’t have any way of knowing that until I caught up to JR’s statement.

Do your Christian friends not know that X was and has been used for centuries by Christians to depict Christ as he did die on the cross?? And I thought you were the educated one!
