Different circumstances, we were in a declared war against the Axis Powers. The accused were on a sabotage mission. It had nothing to do about religion, they were doing what our own Allied Resistance and OSS agents were doing in Europe. England caught spies and agents and turned them. After the war they treated the cooperative ones leniently. The Germans that gave themselves up here got a raw deal. They just didn’t have “Das Will”. They didn’t even try to kill the Coast Guardman, they offered him money. What kind of Nazi’s were they?? It was war time and the press had to make it a big deal, at that time they had to build up the war fervor. Outside of the S.S.Normandy sinking I don’t recall any other acts of sabotage. (Even that one was questionable.)

I wonder, had Mohammad turned in all the bombers before the event would you still want to hang him or send him to prison? My only objection to him being tried in a Civilian Court, is we will provide him with a soap box, or a stage, if you will, and the media will turn it into a circus. This should be a military trial, limited press exposure, and a quiet hanging. Followed of course by disposing the body in a meat processor and delivered it to Iowa for pig fodder. I’m sure most of the victims relatives would agree to that.

and just take it for granted his grievances were real and profoundly deep, and we are somehow responsible for bringing him to this, because otherwise his crime would surely not be so great.
