Way back when I helped build some of these we didn't have those pointy things to decorate our planes with.
Hehe.
They blew up the other bomb in place yesterday 10/24. I live just a few minutes to the north, so I heard the bang and saw black smoke. It was buried 17 feet into the ground.
I think I actually saw the jet that was having a problem, but didn’t know it at the time. I was at a park in Layton with my wife and daughter. (Her mothers’ group was having an early Halloween party.) There were jets taking off and heading out to the west desert like always. But one jet did something different. He was low, not climbing out like the others. He really buzzed the park I was at, it was loud and scared the moms and munchkins in costume. And instead of making a 90-degree turn off the runway and heading out to the west desert, he did a tight 180 and headed right back toward the base. The Halloween party started at 3:45 PM on Thursday and we had been there for about 20 minutes, so the time was right.
aka Sidewinder missle. There’s one on the port wing also.
