Being reported it took off from Ft Collins, was in the air 2 1/2 hours and came down in Brighton not far from Denver International Airport.

No one in balloon, reports he fell out somewhere.
The lower compartment did not appear to be sealed off from the rest of the balloon so if a door was opened the helium gas would have all escaped out of that door when opened if the kid fell out. ......

Brighton is near DIA...mostly prairie/grassland so lots of sand.
Near desolate in winter time.

That area is in the plains just East of the mountain range. It is farmland. Most areas are plowed at the end of the growing season.
