Weapons failed US troops during Afghan firefight

Nothing in the AP article that initiated this thread suggested that stopping power was an issue in the subject fire fight. Rather it seems that our guys were not scoring hits on the bad guys. If they can't hit their targets, it doesn't make much difference what kind of small-arms weapon is used.
