Care to explain how an unknown candidate, with little to no legislative history, a questionable background, and ties with some of the most radical people in America defeated BOTH the Clinton Machine, AND a 30 year popular Senator/War hero, running with America’s most popular Governor, became President without even so much as a SINGLE Major Media interview of his college roommate, or a question as to ANYTHING in his background?
Care to explain how THEY were painted as idiots, while the Unknown Obama, and the Senate’s biggest goofball were portrayed as the smartest people on Earth, and the cure for all of the World’s ills?
Care to explain why E!, The View, Oprah, and others ran with pro-Obama stuff nearly every single day, for a YEAR, when McCain or any other Repub Candidate, INCLUDING Fred Thompson, couldn’t get 30 seconds on the evening news?
Care to explain why NBC/MSNBC ran the Daily Soldier Death Count EVERY SINGLE NIGHT at the end of the newscast, for years, but suddenly stopped doing that the day after Obama was elected?
Most of the Dems thought they were voting for the guy on West-Wing, and most of the sheeple thought they were voting for American Idol.
I find it to be a complete denial of reality to think the Major Media is “Dead”, when we have all the proof we need that it is far from it, in the last election, just a few months ago.
WE know the truth, we study it every day. WE know the lies, we read them, and disprove them, every single day.
As I’ve said, get out of the bubble. While I love FR, it’s just a few thousand of us, and it tends to be an echo chamber.
We now live in a media-centric society, and the sheeple are bombarded with messages, from everywhere. The MAJORITY of American Males under 30 get their primary news from THE DAILY SHOW, for chrissakes!!

Plus, $700 million dollars in 0bama campaign money, a lot of it from outside the country, used in outspending his opponent by up to 3:1 in the home stretch of an election, plus 99% black vote, plus McCain's utter stupidity whereby he spent more time telling voters what a great guy 0bama was(His “don't worry folks, 0bama is not a dangerous guy at all”), than telling voters why they should vote for him McCain, will win a community organiser an election every time.

None of this increases the relevance of the media one bit, nor does it in any way change the fact that the influence of the media keeps diminishing every single day. The Van Jones and ACORN affairs this year, prove how the ability of the mainstream media to tightly control what the public hear or don't hear, and to exclusively influence political matters, is gone FOR GOOD!

And it was all done with ZERO participation by the State Run Media. It was the conservative/alternate media that took them down.

As for Oprah, her ratings have been sinking faster than the Titanic since she refused refused to let Sarah Palin appear on her program anyway.
You are not looking at the trend. Conservative news outlets are gaining viewers/listeners hands over fist, even as the liberal mainstream media continues to lose viewers everywhere. Network TV news ratings are down, CNN ratings are down, MSNBC ratings are down. Meanwhile Rush is hitting new ratings record highs, and so is Fox.

Glenn Beck has another 9 million tuning in to his radio show.
Plus Beck appears at non-prome-time 5PM on Fox, which is when most people are not even back from work yet, and still manages to beat every single prime time program on MSNBC and CNN. Plus ABC/CBC/BC have ratings of less than 21.6 million most nights, plus you are comparing one program (Beck's) to the combined ratings of ALL 3 network news, while ignoring Hannity, O'Reilly, Greta et al, which is nonsense.
Put Beck at Prime Time and he will give Katie Couric a run for her money.

There have been literally hundreds of posts here of declining circulation, profits, share price etc of newspaper after newspaper, with plenty of them closing shop.
As for the network news, their combined ratings today, is running at less than 50% what they used to be just 30 years ago, and that is with this country's population having increased by over 30% during that time span. If anything, their viewership should be up. There is graph somewhere FR about that too. Find it.
