It's so neat to climb 'hills' - well, they are hills, but you have to descend hundreds of feet to climb them - and see unopened or barely opened oyster shells ringing the perimeter of the hilltops.

Naturally you reach down and grab them, open them... knowing the last time they opened was 65 million years ago.

This earthquake went on for three minutes. Quite fortunate that the waves did not arrive while the shaking was still going on.

The people that go in afterwards to bury the dead are hero’s. The stench would have been horrible...that is a brave thing to do.

From what I’ve read, the epicentre was close to the islands= less time. Worse, the signal goes to Hawaii, IIRC, then they call the islands to warn them. Seems there should be other sensors warning systems spread around the Pacific.
