Actually would have thought that maybe Sunday noon or so would have been better - miss all the Sunday talk shows.

Actually, that's the reason it was done in the middle of the night on Saturday night. The White House would certainly have learned sometime late Saturday what the final topic list was going to be for the Sunday AM shows - and I'd venture a guess that every one of the Sunday shows was gearing up to devote a significant portion of their time to the Van Jones issue. The White House didn't want that, so Jones had to go, which had the effect of minimizing the impact that the morning shows could have.

Well considering the decision during the middle of a holiday weekend, I am not all that suprised.

SO THEN WHY DID HE QUIT?

VERY good question.

A divisive and controversial man like Van Jones does not quit because of a FALSE smear campaign. He's QUITE ACCUSTOM to being a target to those opposed to him and, as such, has developed a very THICK SKIN.

Also, he wouldn't have quit if ALL of the damage had been done. It makes one wonder what ELSE has yet to be revealed about Van Jones that we don't know of yet!

...embarrassment, that sums it up for this POS POTUS and his administration. Is it a sin to feel so good, to watch this whole fookin debacle rip this country apart? Naaa, it’s change we need to get back to where we once belonged

Actually, that's the reason it was done in the middle of the night on Saturday night.

News cycle is always a critical determinant to release bad information out of Washington.

That said, the "resignation" is SO obviously coincidental with Glenn Beck's most-recent and damning news piece on Van Jones on THURSDAY, that the timing was more a matter of necessity than of convenience.

Obama makes his big pitch to try to save ObamaCare on Wednesday to Congress. He doesn't want distractions, but will also lose some coverage from the speech to schoolkids on Tuesday.

Additionally, because the national news lags during 3-day weekends, the Jones story will likely appear in Tuesday morning papers. The effect is likely nil to most of the sheeple, but the watchers in and of Washington know this is a BIG chink in Obama's armor and marks a shift in the political capital that he's wielded up to now.

There are some strong Obama supporters who feel VERY betrayed from the LOSS of Van Jones and potentially the health care "Public Option". Plainly put -- Obama seems even more more vincible to those who feared his popularity among his key voting blocks.

One other overlooked fallout from this is that a handful of others in the MSM will be wanting a piece of Fox News' "action" (*and ad revenue*) and now will be more willing to go after Obama.

With the 24 hour news cycle we have it doesn’t any longer matter when news is released. It used to be ALL of us got our news from the nightly news programs or the morning newspapers. No longer. As we just saw the Jones resignation hit DRUDGE immediately and went viral, with the story being all over the world in minutes. The fact many people were asleep when the story was released is meaningless since when they woke up and booted up, there it was.

The single biggest problem of the Left and one which is responsible for the majority of their problems is they no longer control what people see and hear.

I believe it was Joseph Goebbels who said “Control the message and you control the people”. The Left has lost the ability to control the message.
