That's exactly what I speculated on my blog, NoBamaNation a few days ago.
Think about it, how would one best marginalize their political opponents at the least amount of cost? It'd be well worth $1m - $2m dollars to label a significant portion of the republican party as a bunch of whacko's right before the 2010 or 2012 elections simply by producing a valid birth certificate.
It'd be brilliant political strategy when it comes right down to it.
I think this is just as authentic as the one Obama’s campaign posted on the web.
Maybe that was the point, one good fake birth certificate posted on the net deserves another.

You’ve got it backwards. This is not about a birth certificate, it is about Obama.
The question is whether people are propping up a hoax in Obama. We’re trying to find out what the true history is behind him.
This certificate has not been ‘propped up’. Everyone is currently investigating. If it is a forgery, then the guy is really good and should be given a round of applause. He has also given us something more interesting to do than listen to lame media articles bash ‘birthers’.
But the Free Republic viral messengers keep trying to spill doubt about the certificate. That, alone, tells me everything I need to know.
They knew this birth certificate was going to surface. This is why they did the pre-emptive attacks on ‘birthers’.
If you notice, ever since this birth certificate has come out, they have switched their attacks from the ‘birthers’ to the document itself. That tells me everything.

In 1964 Coast Hospital in Mombasa was within the Coast Province of the Republic of Kenya. If someone wanted a certified record of a birth in that hospital in 1961, he would go to the bureaucrat responsible in 1964 for Mombasa and its hospitals. Where the records for Mombasa from the time when it was still NOMINALLY under Zanzibar (but already effectively within the British colonial administration were kept in 1964 doesn’t matter. The bureaucrat would go to wherever those books were kept and look up that birth and fill out the certificate. But since the book is given a number and no further identification, the original book recording births in Mombasa (Zanzibar) in 1961 was known to the registrar of births in the Coast Province of Kenya in 1964—the records of the British colonial bureaucracy were simply being continued, probably in many cases by the same bureaucrats who ran those offices before Kenya’s independence in the preceding fall.
None of this means the document is not a fake. A forger would research the bureaucratic structure of the period from 1961-1964 and gotten the names of the officials and found out how records were kept and filled in the blank form with that information.
That’s why Freepers can’t decide this question on these threads. Only someone with this document in hand doing forensic work on it can do that.
It may well be a fake. It could be an effort to divert attention from Obamacare etc.
According to another poster, the coastal province of Kenya belonged to Zanzibar earlier, but the Brits were ceded the right to control it as long as they left sharia law or whatever in place.
When the British empire was breaking up, the people in the province wanted to be an independent country--or if that wasn't possible, preferred to join Kenya rather than Zanzibar. Which they did, a year or so before the BC date. It's not unlikely that they would have referred to themselves as the Republic of Kenya at the time the certificate was dated.

Well, Sundays are not really very productive or effective days on which to be calling congressional offices. No one’s there.
But your point is a good one. Everyone needs to call twice tomorrow!
I once was a Director of a British PLC company and learned quite a bit about their bureaucratic and idiosyncratic ways.
Virtually every Brit I worked with used their first two initials and then their last name as their “business” name. Therefore, the “E.F. Lavender” and the “M.H. Miller” are EXACTLY the way the Brits sign their name or refer to themselves in business correspondence. They would never sign it “EF Lavender” or “M. Miller” or “M H Miller” or “Eric F. Lavender”.
The spacing and punctuation are EXACTLY CORRECT, based on my experience.
This is one of the first things I looked for to see if it was a fake. Maybe ask Snugs for verification?
you had read the WND article, you would see that they DID compare it to another certificate from the same period and THEY MATCHED. And both were signed by E.F. Lavender!

If the DU members are going to create many ‘birth certificate documents’ and mail them everywhere, that means this one is authentic.
In the art of political war, if you cannot disprove something, then you should muddy up the waters so much to make the authentic one get lost.
For you DU members that are reading thread, we actually need your help in helping to PROVE this document is forged. Going around making tons of fake birth certificates isn’t going to help anyone and would be admission that the birthers won.
Free Republic welcomes anyone, even on the DU, who can help show the document is a clear forgery. It would have been easier if Obama just released his Hawaii birth certificate, but this is all we have.
The posts from over there lead me to think most of the posters are about age 13 or so. Why? They seem to lack a whole lot of institutional memory, and apparently do not remember how the American people react when they’ve been lied to.
Wonder if they ever heard of Watergate. It put the Republicans on the outside looking in for a very long time. The American public doesn’t have much stomach for fraud.
If they were smart over there, instead of thinking of ways to continue to muddy the waters, they’d come up with a way to get the real documents out there.
Because no group of people has more to lose than the Democrats, if this guy is being less than honest. If a Republican was acting like this, I’d be scared out of my wits that he or she was hiding something that would blow up later.

What I want to know is how to verify the official capacity of Messrs. E.F. Lavender, Miller, and Joshua Simon Oduya in February 1964.
I trust a lot of what I read on FR , I’ve seen some pretty insane claims on WND.
Then go do that instead of harassing other posters. Most can walk and chew gum at the same time.
Makes us look pretty dumb ranting and raving about some stupid photoshopped document they threw on the net.
It’s there as a distraction my friend. We should be spending this time writing to our representatives to stop this Marxist health care bill
