Ok, rescanned at 1200, and again with paint I get the error message: “There is not enough memory or resources to complete operation. Close some programs and try again.”

600 DPI is the best I can do. I don’t know if HP has editing software with the install disk. I don’t recall that it did. It was more of a pain in the ass to use so when I rebuilt this machine with a new power supply and hard drive, I did not reinstall the software. Husband said to just use the windows wizard for Scanners. So thats what I use.

Paint anyway is totally barfing. It will not save anything I do, it will not save the already saved document even though I made no changes what so ever.

I just don’t get it. You have a machine that is far more powerful than one I was using 10 years ago to edit images.

I was using a 486 DX2 and installed a 8meg Matrox video card.

This really should be no problemo.

If you are born of Boer stock in South Africa, you are descended from Caucasians, but are African.

African describes continent of origin, but not a Race.

"African-American" wasn't nearly as often used in 1961 as today. "Negro" was the common term.

Quick question. Is the number on your COLB (partly) 69-XXXXX or 1969-XXXXX With the Xs representing the rest of the number. Enquiring minds wanna know if the “19” was used.

My husband says that it is the software. For some reason it is barfing. He says that if I want to be able to do this with such a huge file and its 14.8MB, that I need a full version of something like Photo shop that can handle a jpeg better. What ever the heck all that means is. Just spent the last little while letting him poke around with this machine.

600 is just the best I can do, I can’t afford to go out and buy the software right now, we are unemployed till the beginning of August.

Yes it does. “1969 - XXXXXX” the x’s represent the 6 numbers that follow it.

Might we be confusing race and religion?

There is no confusion. The Omani Arabs ruled parts of East Africa. The photographs show what they look like.

I did not refer to their religion. Why did you?

Yes. Sorry about that.

I realized that she shared her father’s first name only after I had posted.

“If you did a bit of research, you’d find out that in Kenya, Barack Obama SENIOR, was classified by the Government of Kenyatta as ARAB. “

He was not. Where do you guys get this stuff?

I’m upset because the Obama folks are using this crap to discredit the whole deal. Arab. Sheesh....

STOP THIS!!!
The number you are referring to, the REVISION number, IS NOT THE DATE. It is the number of revisions done to a specific OFFICIAL STATE document before the document is issued.
I have sat back and watched this thread devolve and am really, REALLY upset that NO ONE bothered to check the revision history on this document before flinging these accusations around and sending a person who was only trying to help into a frenzy. Making her jump through hoops because NO ONE understood this was NOT a Date????
Vendome, you are a doc expert. You, of all people, should have realized this was not a date stamp.

HERE is how its done, and yes, many of you owe Danae an apology!

Version number
1
Revision number
001
State
Issued

If the company hires a new agency to handle its travel arrangements, the new agency might require that the company’s employees use a different travel expense form. The revisioning feature of the Desktop allows a user to copy the existing form, make changes to it, and then replace the existing form with the new form, all without disturbing anyone that might be using the existing form. At a high level, the process works like this:
From the Desktop, the user highlights the existing travel expense form and selects the Revise command. DB2 Document Manager makes a copy of the document and gives it a unique ID. For example, the work-in-progress document might have the following attributes: an item ID of 234567890, a version number of 1, and a state of Draft.
The user changes the form as many times as necessary, typically checking it in to the library and out of the library several times as the document moves through the editing and approval stages of its life cycle. The document might have the following attributes by the time the user is done making changes: an item ID of 234567890, a version number of 11, and a state of Ready for Issue.
On the date that the new travel agency starts its contract with the company, the work-in-progress document is transitioned to the Issued state. DB2 Document Manager can automatically transition the existing travel expense form to the Superseded state, and restrict the security on it to prevent employees from using it.

I’m getting quite upset as well. I’ve been watching all of this in disbelief. I’m not intelligent enough on the inner workings of all this scanning and EXIF (???) to know what the heck they are talking about, but the accusations are quite alarming and horrifying.

I have no idea who is right or who is wrong, but this is all really terrible if you ask me.

Danae, if I were you, I would be on the phone THIS MORNING and insisting that they FAX you a letter, signed and dated, corroborating what you are saying here. I would be outraged as hell if you are on the up and up and would do everything to dispel this “liar” accusation. On the other hand, I am no expert...but some others here are...and their explanations hold weight.

This needs to be resolved. This is just horrible.

EXIF data contains the type of camera/scanner used, resolution, exposure time, and relevant tech info that most people don't pay much attention to with the "smart" imaging technology. It is info that is mostly relevant to professional and amateurs using digital imaging and is used for forensic purposes to detect forgeries using imaging software.
If you scan a document to your computer, send it to paint, which is NOT digital imaging software, then save it as a JPG or GIF, the exif data is NOT part of the resultant saved document. Likewise, if you edit, or change it, compress it, the exif data for that specific original is no longer elevant since the data has completely changed.

Examples below:
The first image here is a thumbnail of an original, (too large to post,) with EXIF data below:

File Size: 1255 kb - 2048 x 1533
Camera Make: Hewlett-Packard
Camera Model: HP PhotoSmart C935 (V03.67)
Date/Time: 2008:10:22 16:59:09
Resolution: 2048 x 1533
Flash Used: No
Focal Length: 7.6mm
Exposure Time: 0.017 s (1/60)
Aperture: f/2.6
ISO Equiv.: 2992
THIS image was edited and resized. Data for this image is simply the file size.

File Name: InnocentColors.png
.pngok
File Size: 425 kb - 590 x 441

Well, a cellulose brain may believe a false document will be a great exhibit to oppose the affirmative action doll figure, but in the end it is the duped who look like ... lumps on logs.

Thank you for that information. Unfortunately for me, I’m still just stupid enough that it sounds like German to me! LOL But I surely DO appreciate your information and I’ll continue reading it and maybe some small tidbit will sink in!

The samples in my last post ALSO explain the discrepancy between an image directly uploaded via camera phone and the image posted from Photobucket which was first scanned, sent to paint, and then uploaded from her PC to Photobucket as a JPG or whatever...

It takes a few minutes to pull Danae’s posts up from years ago, which I did when this first started. There is no earthly reason to believe that this person, who I don’t know and have had NO contact with, would suddenly revert to some insidious plotter to discredit anyone.
Danae, for whatever it’s worth, you have nothing to prove here.
