Obama was elected President. He stands for almost everything the church is against and has taken very vocal positions on being against. But he is still President and the LDS believe in honoring and giving respect to those offices.

Do not mistake that for acceptance of Obama's agenda, or his positions. Members of the Church and the beliefs of the Church stand at abject odds to Obama's positons and the Church is not afraid to take that stand.

Those states where Mormon membership is in the majority (Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, etc.) are among the most red states in the country.

Besides, if ever made public, I am almost sure that these geneological records would show that Obama's ancestors enslaved and sold Jesse Jackson's ancestors.

I think you’re missing the point. The meeting is not an endorsement. Family history is what the Mormons do, they are the best at it in the world. It should be interesting to see what they found re Barry Soetoro’s genealogy.

The database which the church maintains is fascinating, to say the least, but only as accurate as the records which support it.

Important point, and very true!!

Actually, if one were to remain strictly truthful, basing any assertions upon proofs, a meeting with Barry Soeotor regarding his geneology would be quite short, since the biological connection to Barack Obama of Kenya is not yet a proven fact.

“they are the best at it in the world.”? I'll call you. The Jews have the genealogy all the way back to “In the Beginning”, Ok; lets just say back to Abraham. Is that good enough? And raise you one, where is the real birth certificate? NMP

I do not know how this so-called “genealogy” of the President can be accurate because nobody has seen his official birth certificate.

My cousin (the family genealogist) is a Mormon and I have copies of Mormon issued work-sheets to record births, deaths, marraiges, etc. All of them have spaces for the actual records, or record numbers. It is allowable to enter the phrase “by mouth” while you are researching meaning that the information came by word of mouth, but none of it counts unless there is an actual record, or notation in a published book.

Until Obama supplies his actual birth certificate, it is all Phffft! Better that he should suply his DNA for comparisons to those many half siblings, since there is a major question about that.

The Mormons have it traced back to Adam and Eve. I am not kidding.

Listen, the Mormons have some sort of weakness in their belief otherwise they would invite all opinions to the discussion and sell the strengths of their view and what it can mean for our lives.

I have asked questions, in these Mormons posts, and had some downright abrupt and aggressive responses. Mind you, my friends are Mormons but the live in their Holy Lands, so I can't just have a discussion with them.

However, I take care of a friend who is 99 and a Mormon. I am interested in learning about Mormons and their point of view but most of the time I get SHOUTED AT IN BOLD LETTERS with something like the following:

You are not LDS. Get out!!! (don't know how they would determine that one)
Are you a Mormon? If not, these discussions are not open to you.(Why if your religion is so great and as I understand More Perfect than others, shouldn't it to my benefit and yours that I am converted to your faith. Wouldn't it be an act that is a Glory to God?)
Why do you attack Mormons? You know nothing about LDS!(this one really grates on me as my questions are absolutely about understanding or clarification and I make clear that my friend is Mormon and she enjoys these articles. I, not being steeped in Mormon theology, am asking questions so I might more intelligently have discussions with my friend who will one day be gone from me.)

There have been many other reaction like that and I don't understand them. They act as if they are a secret society and frankly I don't see how belonging to something so secretive would be appealing to one who is troubled or has thought about God or Salvation.

I would think God, as your father, would be open to you calling on him anytime, anywhere for help with anything. At least that is what my father is and I would hope that God is sitting around fixing stuff in the Universe waiting for me to come, to him, for guidance.

Believe me, if you have ever read my questions they are from a purely information purpose, never argumentative and when I can get an honest response I find them informative.

All the LDS Church can go on is documented paperwork. Zero’s father was a profligate spreader of his seed so I doubt there’s much accuracy in the geneology. I’m hopeful that his distant relative Chaney is prominently display in the chart. Since Zero wasn’t born, we’ll have to remember him through his assumption sometime into the future.

I meant to add that I agree with the posters above who say that this presentation of Barry S’s genealogy is a courtesy extended to all Presidents.

That was quick. Well “In the Beginning” does too. As in the Book of Genesis. We know which came first.

A relative of my father’s mother told him she found our family is related to 0bama through his mother ... if this chart don’t indicate the same, it’s a fraud!! ;)

Noooo, sorry for the misunderstanding. We were speaking of Genealogy in general, how far back has it been traced, not of Barry’s FH.
