Really, if you weren't receving anything, I bet you would be working doing something.

Yes, the $390 a week I get now pays about 1/10 of my mortgage. IT is the reason I choose not to work. Brilliant.

I said anything over a year should be considered welfare. No, you didn't 'earn' a years worth of unemployment, no one does.

Um, yes they do. Your employer pays in so it is factored into total compensation. You earn it just as you do medical benefits. You taken Econ 101 yet?

Cut the unemployment benefits and you will see how quickly people find a job.

You sound like a Dem now. You are going to pull unemployment after my employer paid in? That's no different than seizing my property. Employees enter into a contract where they are insured for a certain period against bouts of unemployment in exchange for paying a premium, which is a benefit paid as part of total compensation. If the government didn't mandate it, many people would buy such insurance provided by a private company. The term is irrelevant as long as it is contractually agreed upon.

So get off the reactionary high horse. You are ignorant.

Well, I am probably far better educated then you are, and certainly a lot smarter.

The first part I don't doubt. The second part is false. you sound like someone whose college education was handed to them by his parents along with everything else in life - an elitist puke, basically.

I'd love to see you do that, just walk in to a room full that have lost it all, jobs, homes, cars, investments, everything..

You walk walk in and tell them they've all been on "vacation" from work to long, and they've been collecting those "nice checks" way too long...

Your words.

Once again, I'd love to stick you inside a room with a few hundred of these people, and tell them to their faces how lazy they are.

You'd be chasing your teeth out the door, and you'd deserve every bit of it.

I pay to watch it!

I knew as soon as you popped into this thread you were a piece of work, thinking you are somehow better than most everyone else, and all these jobless in Texas and other places are all just lazy pieces of sh*t, and no better than the welfare wonks.

I detected your attitude from your first or second post. You just couldn't hide your rotten character towards others that have have lost it all. You'd be chasing your teeth out the door. lol... > You stated those that have lost their jobs, careers, homes that have filed for extensions to be on "Vacation", and colleting those "Nice" checks.

Never mind the GD fact that they've lost their asses, investments, jobs, homes, careers, everything..

You are indeed a *real* piece of work.

That seemed to be inordinately clear, and my perception of this guy early on....Someone who is a little "above" everyone else...He couldn't hold back, and his real character boiled to the surface.

If we got rid of all the illegal aliens there would be almost no unemployment in Texas.

TACOMA, Wash. - It's a sign of the times that says it all - more than 1,600 people have applied for a single job as a Tacoma water meter reader.

According to Tacoma Public Utilities, the 1,600 applications were received when the position was advertised, and some 807 people showed up at the Tacoma Dome to take the test.

if you're one of the 822,000 Texans claiming unemployment, just hang in there.

Look at these hundreds of thousands of lazy Texas, all collecting those "nice check's and taking "vacations" from work!

I think you, Mr. FortheDeclaration, should go down to the nearest Texas unemployment office, walk in and tell all those Texans their a bunch of lazy shiftless welfare babies.

Then report back here.

Are you a budget adviser for President Obama? You want my wife to take money out of my paycheck (which is hardly paying the bills) to put gas into her truck to go to work which does not pay enough to pay for her gas!?!?!? If we have to pay MORE for her to go to work, then why go to work? You want my family to pay for the right to go to work because she go laid off!?!? You are an idiot and don’t even understand why!

She didn’t even take the 13-week extension when it was offered, because it wasn’t worth the effort that she was putting into finding a job! Since she couldn’t find a job that didn’t COST us money for her to take, she decided not to take the extension.

And this is FR, not the Ophra website.

If you go to work you are not living off the dole, that's why.

Your attitude is no different then the one that Conservatives attack among those who collect welfare, why should they work, when they can earn more on welfare.

She didn’t even take the 13-week extension when it was offered, because it wasn’t worth the effort that she was putting into finding a job! Since she couldn’t find a job that didn’t COST us money for her to take, she decided not to take the extension.

In other words, she didn't want to deal with the requirements of getting the extension, which was actually looking for a job.

How many were on for 52 weeks?

I think you, Mr. FortheDeclaration, should go down to the nearest Texas unemployment office, walk in and tell all those Texans their a bunch of lazy shiftless welfare babies.

Why were all on for over 52 weeks?

If they are, then they need to start actually doing some work. Then report back here.

Gee, a meter job and a city one at that!

What a surprise that people are applying for that job.

I am sure if there are jobs open at the Post Office they will apply for that also.

How many applications do you think they are going to get for ditch digging-slick.

LOL!

I worked my way through college, earning a graduate degree, after serving 4 years in the Marine Corps.

This is FR, a CONSERVATIVE website, which believes in personal responsibility, not living off the Government and whining about how tough things are.

That is exactly what I would tell them!

Once again, I'd love to stick you inside a room with a few hundred of these people, and tell them to their faces how lazy they are. You'd be chasing your teeth out the door, and you'd deserve every bit of it.

Not if it were just you and me I wouldn't.

You would be crying like a little girl.

I pay to watch it!

Like I said before, with what, your welfare check?

I knew as soon as you popped into this thread you were a piece of work, thinking you are somehow better than most everyone else, and all these jobless in Texas and other places are all just lazy pieces of sh*t, and no better than the welfare wonks.

And if you don't work for over a year, and can physically work, you are no different then anyone who is on welfare who could work also, but won't.

You are starting to repeat yourself.

Clearly, your vocabulary is quite limited.

Never mind the GD fact that they've lost their asses, investments, jobs, homes, careers, everything..

I have tears running down my face!

This is America, when you lose everything, you get up and get it back, don't sit at home in front of the TV and cry about how hard it is.

You are indeed a *real* piece of work.

No, just a simple American who still believes that one ought to get money the old fashioned way-earn it.

No, I paid my way through college, after spending four years in the Marine Corps.

Did you serve?

I grew up in Flushing Queens NY in a lower middle class family.

I just believe in CONSERVATIVE values of hard work and self-reliance.

I guess those traits aren't valued anymore in FR, or are only valued when people don't have to actually deal with making sacrifices.

Hey, it is still 390 a week.

It is almost what I earn going to work!

Maybe you need a lower mortgage?

[ I said anything over a year should be considered welfare. No, you didn't 'earn' a years worth of unemployment, no one does. ]

Um, yes they do. Your employer pays in so it is factored into total compensation. You earn it just as you do medical benefits. You taken Econ 101 yet?

Is that why the system is broke?

What happened to the money that is taken out.

Unemployment was never meant to be for a year, it was to for a few months, to get back on your feet.

[ Cut the unemployment benefits and you will see how quickly people find a job. ]

You sound like a Dem now. You are going to pull unemployment after my employer paid in? That's no different than seizing my property. Sound like a Democrat?

No, it is you who are sounding like a Democrat and defending Democrat polices of keeping people on the Government dole.

What the unemployment insurance is is a tax on business, just like the other taxes the Democrats constantly put on business to fund their government progrems.

And since the money is not there, the ones paying for those who are now unemployed are the TAXPAYERS.

So get off the reactionary high horse. You are ignorant.

Reactionary?

You mean CONSERVATIVE?

Get a job and stop living off the tax-payers.

I just want to clarify something. In your world, if someone wants to work, but can’t afford the gas to actually get to the job, they are a lazy SOB that is on the government dole? Are you listening to your own stupidity?

The difference between the welfare queens and my wife is that she is looking for work! She is actively trying to find work! The state says you have to apply to at least three jobs per week - she has not turned in less than eight applications/resumes a week! She is looking for any work that will PAY HER to do the job, not one that we have to pay THEM.

I doubt an idiot like you could have made it four years in the Marine Corps; at least not the one in which I enlisted and served for ten years!

Its easy for those of you whose jobs haven't been affected by these layoffs to say "get a job".Honestly,I used to be one of those people. But as I've learned the hard way, getting laid off from my job,in this time, its not that easy.I would be happy to find a job, there are none out there.Atleast, none that pay enough to keep my bills paid, not to mention,I've lost my health insurance. So,until you've walked a mile in my shoes, worrying on a daily basis how you're going to make ends meet, don't assume people aren't trying to find employment.I live in a small community, and right now, jobs are few and far between.
