Thanks for the link, piytar. I have no opinion on the guilt or innocence of this young man . . . the judge and jury were able to listen to 3-1/2 weeks of evidence and all I’ve seen is the ESPN article and the blog you posted.
What’s clear is that there is evidence that ESPN elected/neglected not to share in the article. There’s plenty to suggest the innocence of this young man and the ESPN article is written for the purpose of pushing that point.
Those jurors who sat through all of the evidence felt differently — including the judge who said he was convinced that the young man convicted by the jury was the person responsible for the brutal rape and beating. One juror may have since had a change of heart.
However, to all of the posters immediately jumping to set this young man free — I’d suggest that relying on that ESPN article for all of the evidence is like relying on an Obama Whitehouse press conference for all of your facts on the issue.
Note to the young man: If you’ve spent a part of the evening partying and hanging out with a young lady in a public place, to the point where even by your admission she fondled your genitals, then it’s not a good idea to deny knowing her when the police come around with photos to investigate her rape the next day. At least that’s my take on one of the first major no-no’s for anyone, innocent or guilty, to do.
Better yet, IMMEDIATELY take her somewhere there are witnesses, part ways in front of those witnesses, and then stay with those witnesses. Or better yet, don’t put yourself in the position in the first place (although I understand that’s not natural for raging-hormoned young males).
Understandable. As a Knick fan I was just hoping Starks would start warming up. He never did.
Wow, and I thought college was supposed to be about learning. And people wonder why California is about to go tits-up.
It might be that I’m just ignorant of college-level sports as business, but do they really recruit overseas with scholarships ?
Heck yeah. Although in fairness most of the foreign students I’m familiar with at UT actually apply themselves academically as opposed to the usual ghetto hoodlums that get scholarships.
