I’ll echo that - Jackson57, thank you for your service to our country.
Also remember the votes of our Senators and Reps. and hold them accountable as well.
A little hot in the kitchen? As if you would have stayed in office a week before you jumped ship. Palin was ostracized more than any politician I have ever seen and I am 67 years old. Palin told you why she quit, if you can’t understand what she said that isn’t her fault, it is yours for being so stupid. Palin and her family didn’t just put up with a little heat in the media, they faced total devastation. What a putz.
...””thrown off” the pundits who were her biggest champions.”
Really?? Like who? Name names. Because, so far, I didn’t see any of the ones in the media claiming she made a bad move touting her as a leader or savvy or anything else.
I’ve been here since 01 and lurked (and even signed up once—till my school block the site)) before that....
It’s been no secret that the class of 98 had some not so conservative members in it. They often hear a conservative California view, which is different from the Conservative view many of us across the country hold...
One member of that class ,who is no longer with us, even had a list that they would freep mail the niave new members.
Some of those members will tell you “I’M a friend of JR.” or a similar statement....Just consider the source and know where they are coming from.......and ignore them when possible.
If you look back at the 2008 election, the massive crowds she was drawing, and the diversity of conservatives, Independents, and even Democrats, she drew the very support you describe that she needs to win. She has whatever magic communication that Ronald Reagan and Lady Thatcher had to draw people towards her issues.
If you look at Obama's recent poll numbers, the group that is most dropping (by a lot!) are Independents. After only six months, that is devastating for Dem 2010 and 2012 prospects. And they are not letting up on the very issues that are driving people away from them.
Yes, it was a Sarah Palin gamble. But political history is replete with gambles that at first seemed mistakes that turned out to be very winning strategies. Americans may decry "quitters," but they also respect and love guts. I think most people will see this move as the latter if she announces a 2012 run. Time will tell.
My own opinion, she did the right thing if she wants to be a serious presidential contender for 2012.
“Most visitors to Free Republic are attracted to our very popular (and, warning: addictive) conservative news and discussion forum”
I feel we are being taken over by liberals and moderates, somehow the objective why Free Republic was set up is being flushed down to Democratic Underground levels.
I find it odd that the acts of a truly moral and honest person (Sarah Palin), putting the needs of the people over and above personal gratification (staying in office), are put to question.
Then again, everything seems upside-down lately.
Well, you really can’t blame beckett; it is pretty hot in this kitchen ....
Soooo true!
We live in the DFW metroplex so good old Mark is our WBAP morning guy. He's marginally OK there but too obsequious with politicians and embarrassingly hard on the liberals who express opinions contrary to his own. Then he catches himself and goes into passive aggressive mode. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Mark suffers from Adult ADD.
...and on behalf of my family we thank you as well!
Rush couldn’t wait until he got back from vacation to comment on Sarah’s resignation announcement. Hurry home, Rush, we miss you!
Read her address to the country yesterday....She’s not staying in the kitchen.
I predict today July 5, 2009, that she will NOT interview with Bill O'Rielly or Kieth Oberman.
LOL!!!!
Good for you....not a elitist either are you.
Just what OATH did she break???? Are you saying that collecting a paycheck from your employer while you are putting your efforts in another direction is fine with you???? Is tahat the kiond of employee you are??? You need a lesson in ethics and should learn one from Sarah.
Then don’t let the door hit you, already.
You folks who think Sarah just pulled off one of the brightest moves in political history, need to realize that not everyone is convinced of it, even on our side of the isle.
RINOsh*t. A person who is merely not convinced would not refer to Sarah as a "pinhead woman."
