I think you’re right. She’s following the Nixon 1966 model. Campaign hard for Congressional candidates, build up IOU’s and convert them into support for a presidential run in 2012. She wouldn’t be able to do that as governor without giving short shrift to Alaska.

I thought I give a small donation to Sarahpac. I googled sarapac and came up with this site instead. What a absolute disgrace. This is an example of how the left operates. Lying Cheaters. http://www.sarapac.com/

As I watched her speech, this was one of the first things that I thought about. Raising funds, appearing with other candidates, campaigning for them, followed by a win and Sarah has earned herself a tremendous amount of clout.

Sarah nudged Saxby Chambliss to the run-off victory in 2008. She can do the same all over the map in 2010.

Reagan did not resign as governor. He was elected in 1966 and 1970 and served two full terms.

I believe she is the most honest and credibile politician out there.

As do I. And character does matter to most of us, Romneybots excluded.

Oh, so quitting with almost half her term to be completed is *not* quitting? What is it, then? “Variable Term Limits?”

I stand corrected on the Reagan “resignation”.

Sarah Palin can win it all, but only in one case: if Obama resigns also!

You can also stand corrected on calling me a Romneybot. I can’t stand that RINO. Your apology is humbly accepted

I look forward to helping others – to fight for our state and our country, and campaign for those who believe in smaller government, free enterprise, strong national security, support for our troops, and energy independence.” ... Sarah Palin

I'll apologize for the Romneybot remark, too. So why are you raging with PDS?

Bingo! I think fox news is stuck on if she’s giving up or running for president. I think this is all about getting strong new faces elected to congress in 2010. Sarah can bring the crowds out for candidates in a way that no one else can and she will support conservatives.

Palin would have to win congress for the republicans, they should can't do it themselves.

Sarah was my great hope to flush Obama away in 2012. That hope is dashed, and this is a dark day for me.

I supported Sarah for high office since about 6 months before McCain showed his first set of balls by picking her for Veep. I was one of her biggest fans, and I see that she just blew her chance, and ours as well.

” she cannot run and win any office again.
BUT, she can guide the public debate and assist others. Then she might hold an appointed office somewhere someday.”

Agreed.
I think she electively ended her official political career today.
( And who can blame her, after what the media ,the Democrats and the McCain faction did to her and are still doing to her .)

I really hoped that she would run for the Senate as a prelude to higher office.
However ,I don’t think she ended her political influence.
She is no longer constrained by elected office to be politic in her comments.
I wonder if the “ stay tuned “ isn’t a hint-
like maybe she’ll be hosting a radio or cable talk show ??

I’d pay to see her at a fundraiser.

Nope. She just did the ultimate cave. She’ll always be remembered as a quitter.

I think, and hope you're wrong. My hunch is she sees the 2010 elections as critical in turning back the socialist tide. I believe she can and will play a major role in the trenches for 2010. I don't see anybody else as having anywhere near the same chance to pull it off. Do you?

Maybe not. But quitting mid-term really damages her brand. As I said above, I’d pay to see her at a fundraiser. I’ll read anything she chooses to publish.
