Unbelievable — I just surveyed DailyKos and other like-minded sites. They are blaming the Free Republic for this shooting.
First, I have been a member of FR since 1998, and I can testify that FR is more pro-Israel than most mainstream sites, more than most moderate Jewish sites. This attack on FR is unjustified.
That said, we need to take a long, hard look at right-wing media.
Yes, some of the commentary on FR is over the top. However, it is always challenged by Freepers who are fact-based. This is undeniable. (For example, the Freepers that are wondering how a convicted felon got a gun, and, thereby, differentiating between gun-rights and gun-control advocates in clear, reasoned way.)
However, there may be a connection between hyped-up accusations, criticisms, etc and a lunatic picking up a gun and shooting someone. I am not talking about FR here - because we maintain a balanced (though right-wing discussion - [yes, the lefties would say we are totally biased]).
But some of the nonsense spewed out by cynical politicians and right-wing media personalities is enough to spur a mentally unbalanced person to pick up a gun and start shooting.
It’s not free speech to yell fire in a crowded theatre. And, yes, you all know what I am talking about.

why did they take the shooter to GW hospital? what a waste of money - just put another bullet in him and he goes in a pine box.

SHouldn’t the aritcle’s title instead be: “Obama uses psycopath’s killing of innocent man as pretext to do away with the gun rights of lawful citizens”?

This from a guy who sat in a church for 20 years and listened to the anti-semetic Preacher who just 4 days ago had this to say in an exclusive interview at the 95th annual Hampton University Ministers' Conference, Wright told the Daily Press that he has not spoken to his former church member since Obama became president, and he implied that the White House won't allow Obama to talk to him.
Wright said: "Them Jews ain't going to let him talk to me," Wright said. "I told my baby daughter that he'll talk to me in five years when he's a lame duck, or in eight years when he's out of office."
And we are supposed to believe that Obama never knew that Wright had these feelings, said these things, preached this hatred, etc. all the years that Obama thought of Wright as "a family member."
Not only is Obama a lying piece of trash who cannot be trusted, but anyone of the Jewish religion who voted for him must surely be deaf, blind, and dumb. Now look what is happening because Obama has made it clear he does not support Israel or the Jewish population. Hence, these kooks like the murderer at the Holocost Museum will come out of the woodwork thinking they are "in line" with the president's desires.
Lots of tragedies around this episode.
