Unlike Romney's "National Council for a New America," Free Republic is a conservative site!

I think just about everyone here recognizes Alan Keyes as a great conservative. However, some believe that it is impossible for him to ever win the presidency (just as many believe the same about Duncan Hunter) and for this reason they may not get the support that many wish they would.
This is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from refusing to support someone on the grounds that they aren't a conservative. "Pragmatism" rears it's ugly head.

I guess y’all are going to toss Jim off his own site, considering FR endorsed FRED THOMPSON for president.
I’m still a proud FRedhead, and I’m as conservative as they come.

There are wood planks in my garage that have more charisma than Duncan Hunter. And they didnt vote for all that pork barrel spending either. Duncan Hunter didn't vote for tons of pork, despite the oft repeated smear.

Thank you. It was time to nip this in the bud before 2010.
I cannot go through another election and sign on to holding my nose for another loser RINO.
Thanks again Mr Robinson.

Thanks. It has been around. Don't know who to credit but it has been a part of my vocabulary for a long time.
Glad you got the jest of my post and didn't take the comment personally.
God Bless

I liked Hunter and hadn’t heard of him before finding this site. However, no one I know ever heard of him either.

Did you notice the little digs at Fredheads on this thread...??? And as far as I know, not one of us mentioned Fred running again.
It's the old, "it's everyone's fault that Mitt lost except Mitt" meme.

Amen to that, Jim.
We seem to fall into this mode of supporting personalities and parties over our principles. We begin down this road of compromising our beliefs to support personalities and parties. President Reagan was the high watermark on conservatism in recent years. Yet, there were aspects of his presidency and even the man himself that disappointed his supporters. As much as I miss him as president, what he represented was much bigger than he was. He even understood that.
We should stand by the principles with steadfast determination....not the "celebrities" who vie for our support. This is not about party or the politicians. To me, this is about the U.S. Constitution, my liberties and the greatness of my country.
Just my measly .02 cents.

Yup. Rebel. A whole lot of GOPers are failing to grasp the severity of the situation. The TEA Party Rebellion is not only against Obama and the Democrats. We the people are thoroughly pissed at business as usual big spending, big government, high taxing, corrupt, constitution trampling tyrannical government and we’re rebelling against it. We’re fighting for our rights and our Liberty and for our children and grand children’s rights to live in a free country!
If it’s simply business as usual by the GOP, they’re going to experience the full wrath of the TEA Party Rebellion!!
Do NOT tread on us!!

And we expect our elected representatives to also aggressively defend our rights and fight against all enemies foreign and domestic. We do not elect people and send them to DC or our state capitals, etc, to reach across the aisles or to be bipartisan or to negotiate or compromise away our rights. If you’re not going to aggressively fight for us, and for our rights, STAY OUT!!
We bow to no king but God!
