Unlike Romney's "National Council for a New America," Free Republic is a conservative site!

I would like to know how he got the ticket when most would not have voted for him.
Big money donors (Like AIG) that kept him in the race till nearly all others dropped out and threw their delegates to him.

"And no, charisma isnt the most important quality in a candidate, but its very helpful to have a candidate with the personality that can develop the following youre talking about. Aside from like 10 true believers on FR, he hasnt done that and wont do that." We need a conservative with the complete package. We didn't have it in 2008, and until one appears on the scene, it will be an uphill battle. The field of 2008 holdovers who are bouncing around the country for the Republican Party are not the future of conservatism.

I to voted to McCain, but that was because he was running with Palin. It's called a cop-out in these parts

A few years ago, it was Barack who, so your premise falls flat ridiculous. 5 years ago he was the key note speaker at the DNC...the year Bush beat Kerry.
O’Bummer was the DNC’s ‘fair haired’ Marxist boy...and he was all anyone heard about for the next four years (thanks to the MSM, George Soros and Acorn)....so your premise falls flat.

Where have you been?
You are far from alone my FRiend.
There is a whole army of Conservatives here meeting the Romneybots at every turn.
I am a proud member of that army, a despicable, DU hopping Saul Alinsky style Mitt basher as I have been called by one of Mitt's chief flying monkeys here...

Good grief, Resty. Your ‘Yoda: the wronged woman’ routine is getting so old.
If you actually supported any of the words you strung together nonsensically in your post, you wouldn’t be advocating for a socialist slimebag like Mitt Romney.

I do see your point though.
In early 1976, nobody outside of Georgia had heard of Jimmy Carter.
In 1992, people outside of Arkansas either had never heard of Bill Clinton or they remembered his awful speech at the 1988 DNC Convention.
In 2000, few people had any clue of who GWB was other than GHWB’s son and some knew he was governor of Texas.
Obama has been a media darling since 2004, but prior to that NOBODY had heard of him.

I got a "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN"? from the RNC. They called me on my cellphone, and I said: You seem to have made a mistake. I'm not a Republican, I'm a conservative.

thanks for the ping, jellybing!
FR is where I go to mingle with conservatives. Despite the occasional hiccup, there is no better forum for like-minded and somewhat like-minded people to mingle.

Is Obama the standard you wish to use to choose the chief executive of the United States. Of course not. That's why I'm recommending Hunter. At the same time, we shouldn't make someone be Governor before they run for President. Maybe 15 or 20 years ago this would have been sage advice, but times have changed. There is a sense of urgency to take back the country like I (and many others) never seen before.
I would think we would have a higher standard.
We do. Hunter is a proven conservative; Obama is the Marxist.

Sorry, Ron Paul (a guy I used to like—a lot) made his bed with the treasonous 911 truthers and he can lay in it. Ron Paul and the Alex Jones nutcases of the world can KMA!!

Romney is somewhat of a socialist, but a lot of his staunch supporters will say Oh, that was in the past. Just like his stance on abortion was in the past. Romney was pro-abort as recently as 1994. That was not a lifetime ago. Not even close. Everyone has the right to change their mind, and I applaud Mitt on his change in his stance on abortion.
But that being said... Why should I trust him as my nominee for president. Because of his former positions, I would like to see real votes that confirm a change of heart and mind. What I am saying is that he needs to hold a lesser position such as Congressman or Senator to prove himself, before I trust him with my vote.
And what about these open primaries, the Demonrats used them to pour McLame down our throats. That needs to end.

Other than on the war and abortion among a few other things, no.
