well, you may be right.

I wonder what kind of country we'll even have by then.

0 may have found a way to take away the right to vote...by conservatives.

We'll probably be considered a "hate group" and prosecuted on sight...or shot!!

Yeah, but at least he’ll be on our side for a change for the next 13 months...

I have a feeling Republicans are officially done with him now, no matter what he does. Last time he had President Bush, who was very popular, campaigning for him. But now Republicans have nothing left to lose. I think they’re ready to take a gamble on running some new blood. In 2004, the rational was that Bush needed Senate Republicans to retain Pennsylvania in order to advance his agenda, and only Specter could do it. That rational is gone now, and Republicans know that Specter isn’t going to keep his seat, because they won’t vote for him again in the general.

And with Specter already threatening to run as an independent, that means that Toomey just might be able to win in November. Conservatives will all vote for Toomey, and Specter will split the remaining vote with the Democrat.

Who are the 42% that still view him favorably? That seems quite high for the atrocities he’s committed.

And despite the anger of Pennsylvania voters (and many nationwide), the GOP leadership STILL wants to back the traitor Specter??? They need to pay attention to what the people want!

The problem is, what the people want is a Democrat. They will settle for a RINO with seniority.

This problem is almost identical to the Maine problem, and it's similar to the NH Senate race next year if Gregg really retires.

We have enough strength to punish the RINOs Specter, Snowe, and Collins by removing them from office.

But the Democrat nomination process is controlled by a fanatical far-Left minority, which has perfected the finding of stealth candidates.

So Specter (in this case) can easily be replaced by Toomey as the candidate, but his replacement in the Senate is going to be a communist.

Same with Snowe and Collins.

The secret communist faction in the Congress is becoming a serious problem. We need to consider it very carefully before adding more Senators (especially) to their ranks.

“Now, just to get rid of Snowe and Collins!”

Problem with that is that Collins just got re-elected, so she’s in until 2014 and Snowe won’t be up for re-election until 2012.

Seriously, what is up with Maine?

even if he does, the Dem will win as PA conservatives will stay home or vote 3rd party

Wake the F up!

There are not enough Pennsylvania conservatives to elect a Senator!

God rest the soul of our brother Common Tator. If he were still here, he would tell you - your choices as PA conservatives are two - a RINO or a Democrat. Recent changes in the Democratic Party assure us that their candidate will be young, attractive, probably black, and a secret communist.

Toomy CANNOT beat such a candidate. C-A-N N-O-T.

THe choices in PA are like the choices in Maine. RINO or communist.

It's your choice.

Specter can be the first RINO to go. Then McCain. I don’t know if there’s any hope of getting rid of the Lenin Sisters from Maine, but it’s worth a try.

Now watch the Pa. republican party start attacking Toomey and cheerleading for Specter. Naturally the MSM will back Specter to the hilt, as will many Pa. newspapers.

The fatal error in this poll is that it does not take into account the union and other liberal voters who will gladly cross over in this OPEN PRIMARY to lift the RINO to victory.

Gee, anyone else have a problem with OPEN PRIMARIES? You know, like New Hampshire where bus loads of Massachusetts unions workers went North under their “same day” registration policy and lifted RINO McCain to victory?

CLOSE THE PRIMARIES! That should be Michael Steele’s number one priority.

Until then, polls like this are meaningless!

True, but they did the same thing last time and were BARELY able to push Specter over the top. Spector is starting further behind with Republican voters this time.

Is PA an open primary state?

No but everyone registers right before the election and then back again.

That is good news indeed. However, I was merely pointing iut that the 20 point lead for Toomey os merely illusory due to dems shenanigans.

And ACORN, flush with stimulus cash, has yet to wade into the pool.

Specter the snake could survive to slither away and bite conservatives for another six year term. But I’m betting that even if he wins the primary, he will lose the general. Dispirited Pennsylvania Republicans will not turn out to vote for him.

I think you are right. If Specter wins the primary he loses to a dem in the general. It’s just like last November. The only reason the race was as close as it was is because McLame’s internals showed him getting blown out unless he picked a conservative to balance the ticket and even then he was going to lose. I voted only because Palin was on the ticket. Otherwise, I had other plans for election day.

The moral of the story is that their is no such thing as a "fiscal conservative/social liberal"

If you are a lib on social issues you are going to be liberal with money.
