Err, “Declaration.”
No one asked me or anyone I know either and I’m in Dallas.
Lincoln put an end to that idea a long time ago
WRONG.... we have it in writing. Care to force us like Lincoln and lots of northerns will not turn out the same this time.
No, you didn’t read the home page. I am in Texas and Oklahoma. Also I made a point of my Texas ties in another thread from my Texas Drivers license, Texas tags on car, Texas address... :-)...
I do travel back and forth between Texas and Oklahoma and have addresses in both states. I’ll end up in Oklahoma but I’ve got my Texas qualifications... :-)

And, in answer to your question if Oregon wanted to secede, I would vote against it, if I were still there...
Again, Lenin could have just as plausibly said the same thing in 1920 regarding secession from the USSR and Queen Victoria could have said the same thing when she was crowned empress of India. Wasn't it Churchill who predicted hte British empire would last one thousand years. History has a strange habit of reversing itself.
Well, let me know when the bill reaches the floor of the legislature... LOL..
this is bullsh#t. right now this minute, I’d opt out and be better for it.
“Well, in case you didnt take history, Texas voted last time... LOL...”
Well, I took Texas history and even passed with an A. I don’t see what that has to do with my comment though...LOL....
Give it a couple of years and it will be like that.
I got a question: I was born in New York because my Austin-born-and-raised fighter pilot dad was flying fighters for the US, with my Brady-born-and-raised mom covering the home front. If I can score a Certificate of Birth Abroad from the Republic of Texas State Department, can I run for president of Texas? Based on the McCain logic, I like my chances.

RASMUSSEN SURVEY: What a bunch of Horse Sh!t
I seem to also notice a bunch of threads here on Free Republic that says that we have it in “writing” too, about the “qualifications” for the Office of President of the United States — that many FReepers says was ignored by our current President...
Care to comment on that “writing”, also?

And, besides that, I don’t think it would come to a war of any kind, basically because I don’t even see the support among the population for it. It might have some support in a small group (there’s no doubt about that), but small groups don’t carry the day unless the mass of the voters gets behind it.
And here, all we’ve got is a lot of talk by a small group and not too much else.
When I see a bill put forth on the legislative floor to put a vote to the people for that — and it passes and is set for a vote, then I’ll believe you’ve got enough support (at least to vote on it) — but even if one were to ever get to that point (which I think will never happen) — you won’t even be able to “carry the day” on that vote in the public.
[are there any mountain in TX? I gotta have mountains]
Sure, that’s why God gave Texans Colorado!
Ducking now.

They should also ask, if Texas did seceed, would you stay in Texas or move to Vermont, NH, Maine, California, Mass., or NY?
It has to do with “voting” and you’ll never get anything like that to even “a ballot” — much less get a “vote” on it... :-)
—
Someone else in another thread stated that they knew a legislator and he was going to see if a bill could be put forth regarding secession. Now..., if that ever gets “out the door” — then that will be evidence of some degree of political support.
So, I’ll “see” if that can even get out the door of the committee....
Very convincing.
No way the poll could be accurate if they didn't ask you.
You missed “Oklahoma” the most conservative-voting state in the nation... LOL...
If we are trying to get back into the majority anytime soon this talk of secession is not helping at all. It makes us look like the sorest of losers and no better than libs who “threatened” to leave the country for Canada if Bush does not end the Iraq war (of course none of them left.)
Every 2 years the entire Congress is voted on, plus 1/3rd of the Senate. If the majority of Americans (silent or otherwise) is with us, they will shock the Democrats at the voting booth and get us back (or close to) positions of power, just like in 1994. That is where this is done. Even implying that whole states might secede from the union because we don’t like the current administration or laws that are being passed comes across as acting like sore losers. If a majority of the American people feel that we are right and they are wrong it will be effectively dealt with in 2010 and 2012.
Hey, there’s a suburb of Tulsa named your FReeper name... :-)
And your reason why?
