I just called Sen Hatch’s office to let them know I was against this piece of legislation. The female on the phone “assured” me that is was strictly to be on a volunteer basis. I told her there were plenty of volunteer opportunities for people to engage in and we don't need to spend any of the taxpayers money to do so. She got frosty at that point. I guess you can not disagree with the great Sen Hatch and have your phone call welcome in his office.

How long before they find a reason to arm them, or use them as a “force multiplier?”

There have long been rumors concerning the senator’s private proclivities. Perhaps he’s ripe for blackmail. I’m still waiting for him to go balistic over the Utah Escalante Staircase land grab by Slick Willy.

Where do I go online to follow up on this legislation?
How can I find out if this passed or not?

"The old man is clearly off his rocker" Been that way for years.
This latest right after he supported allowing D.C. to have an unConstitutional seat in the House along with another seat for his state. A bonehead move, since he would have gotten the new seat soon anyway based on the Constitution.

I am not aware of age limits on clergy. Not clergy. Cardinals over at the Vatican. They have to retire so they can't be elected pope.
Mind you, I'm not Catholic so I may be wrong about the details. I thought I remembered hearing about a local bishop that had to retire.

With unemployment rising all Congresscritters will vote to take 175,000 people out of the labor market. Heck they may even count them as employed and make the unemployment rate appear artificially low.
Of course we could use 175,000 more military personnel. But alas we will probably get this. The silver lining is most of them will grow up and know from the inside about such government programs.

Hatch is a joke and has been for many many years. I can’t remember when he wasn’t.

the senators private proclivitiesYou mean his limp wristed handshake and his sweet and soft way of speaking? Far be it from me to call out the Mormon type feigned humility.
Yes Feigning is the latest buzz word. Even Hussein has started dropping that word around town. What ever happened to gravitas?
