Isn’t about time Specter retires to his socialist Shangri-La.

HE will fail that test, I’m sure.

Toomey was undecided whether to go for the Governorship or challenge Specter. For a time, it appeared he was going to go for the former. However, since the Porkulus vote, there was a national critical mass to urging Toomey to seek a rematch. Luksik was only going to be a placeholder for Conservatives until a serious first tier challenger came forth (and if none did, we’d support her). However, one has, and she needs to graciously step aside.

Has Toomey announced he’s running for Senator?

I guess the conservatives in PA are taking careful aim at their foot in the next election.

This is unfortunate. Peg has filed already with the FEC and is a declared candidate. Toomey assured her he wasn't getting in to this and has been making noises about running for Governor. That's what he should do.

A Conservative ticket in 2010 with Toomey for Governor, Luksik for Senate, and Russell for Congress will invigorate the PA electorate. The three standing together will prove to be formidable.

Let's hope Pat comes to his senses.

I didn’t know it was a question of “Who’s turn it is,” but rather “who’s better for the job?”

Unless, like the article said, Toomey told her he wasn’t running.

He hasn’t officially filed, yet.

They’re both politicians...it’s hard luck if she believed him. I don’t think it’s going to matter in the end because Steele’s going to ship the cash to PA in boxcars to reelect Specter.

Well, I guess if he told her he wasn’t running, he’s SOL

How is this unfortunate ? Luksik has never even won office, she’s second-tier at best. She might be able to beat Specter one-on-one in a GOP primary (presuming Dems don’t flood it like they did in ‘04), but I doubt she could get beyond the low to mid 40s as a federal candidate even under ideal circumstances.

Most of us were hoping Toomey would seek a rematch. Running for Governor was a bizarre notion, anyhow. There are others running for that, and he had not the best shot at even winning the nomination (Tom Corbett, the AG, seems like a better bet, although my dream candidate for PA Governor is Mayor Lou Barletta).

For us expecting a solid field assembled this early is a bit ridiculous. We should always be looking to field the best candidates, not the ones who got in the earliest.

No, she doesn’t have a chance. She has run against Murtha and lost. She has lost for Governor as the Constitutional Party candidate repeatedly. She is undeniably conservative, but there is no way she wins a general election.

We’re the ones “$hit out of luck” if Specter gets renominated. This is about putting forth the best and most viable Conservative for the primary and general, not annointing someone who got in earliest and who is second-tier at best.

If what she says is true the way I read it, Toomey is in Specter’s corner and will only run to keep her from getting in.

I'm sure the GOP would fight against her.

She is too conservative.
