Evangelical Christianity is not the foundation. It’s one of the three pillars. But it’s true, gotta have the bible thumpers to win the big prize.
Of course it’s narrow minded. But, you gotta drag the bible thumpers along if you wanna win it all. Their easily bought off. They fell for GWB hook line and sinker. Biggest profligate spender since LBJ. The Herbert Hoover of our time. But, name drop Jesus a few times, take the right stand on abortion and they fall into line. The trick is to find a good candidate on fiscal/constitutional issues who can credibly woo them. Not that big a deal.
Well..., perhaps I should append (to all the posts) — in my view... LOL...
As far as I’m concerned, it’s the only legitimate and true basis for conservatism.
Wow, that was a fast response. Point taken. In your view, it’s paramount. Fair enough. For me, it’s fealty to the Constitution, sound fiscal policy, and great talent at communication and persuasion that matter most. I find the socons to be very unreliable, personally. Just look at how they fell into line for GWB. I feel like a lot of pretenders give lip service to socon issues to buy you off, and you guys fall for it. I also feel like you folks aren’t strict enough on the other two pillars, especially when it comes to limited gubmint. But, hopefully, someone will emerge who can sell all of us, and deliver. I can easily coexist with socons, as long as I get what I want.
