OTOH, how do we know that it's true what he says? Maybe he refused to do any work that was given to him because the assignment was “beneath” him.

...because he wanted to go to the police academy to become a sworn DEC officer, but had not taken the civil service tests required.

... Hinton complained the task was not a duty for the director of investigations

...Hinton said he dismissed the recent offer because he did not want to do contract quality assurance and work for a contract administrator who was in a entry-level management post.

He said he has essentially done very little work since about 1999 but has a competitive civil service position so that he is protected should layoffs occur and cannot be fired without due process ...

I think there is ample evidence to indicate that he has been offered positions and he has refused to take them.

Oh, and the initial cause of this whole situation? “That was after getting stuck in a storeroom for two years for refusing to leave his post at the Department of Environmental Conservation heading investigations to make room for a Republican appointee, he said. “

He refused to do what he was asked to do. Go figure.

Same here.

I’m so disgusted with this sue-happy victim-of-racism-my-ass lazy turd, I can’t stand it. I wish I could endure his suffering, I really, really do.

AND HE HAS THE GALL TO WHINE ABOUT IT!

Government at all levels has become so bloated, so intrusive, so expensive and so damn corrupted, it should be enough to make every American tax payer vomit.

Take it from someone who knows...the aggravation isn't worth it.

I agree with you! I retired a few years ago from local government, after being offered an early retirement enticement with extra money. Retirement is wonderful. I got nothing but grief from jerk managers who had little experience except in playing politics. Another guy I know named Rob was first offered the early retirement before me, but turned it down.

He had been fighting and arguing with his boss for the last ten years. His boss asked him, if you don't like it why don't you quit? He replied, I'm going to stay as long as I can to make life hell for you. His boss has been a nervous wreck since then. Rob is still there torturing his boss.

"Retirement is wonderful."

Absolutely. I run into some of my old co-workers from time to time, and they inevitably tell me that I'm lucky I got out when I did. I totally understand your comments about jerk managers. We dealt with folks who sat in Albany and formulated policies and procedures, even though they'd never worked a day in our field. It always looked good on paper, but it rarely worked out when implemented. If it isn't broke, fix it anyway, has always been NY State's policy. I love retirement, and haven't missed the job one day since I retired in 2003.
