Resignation means he’s made the deal he wanted to buy his silence. This thug could hang Hussein, Daley and God knows who else. I’d like a nickle for every call Fitz has gotten from “friends of Blogo.”
This guy is small potatoes. His corruption doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of Illinois/Chicago politics.
If Fitz doesn’t at least take down Daley, then this whole thing was pointless.
Conspiracy to commit a crime IS a crime.
Right. He could be Obama's Ethics Advisor.
Agreed, if he took down Scooter Libby, he should go after the pols is Chicago.
After the hearing, Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall) visits Pentangeli. Hagen tells Frankie that he did the right thing by recanting, and that if he accepts responsibility for turning on the Corleone family, Frankie’s own family will always be taken care of and remain unharmed. He thanks Hagen, returns to his room, and ends his life by slitting his wrists while taking a bath.
backa$$wards, my friend. bama safe while blago fights. blago cedes he soon will sing.
Blagovitch! Why are you allowing Emmanuel and Obama to make YOU the scapegoat? Make them pay!
Not when staying in office will help expose other corrupt politicians further up the food chain.
Is that why Larry Craig, William Jefferson and Ted Stevens are still in office?
With respect. Actually, this is the crime, at least as defined in my states law.
“RCW 9A.28.040
Criminal conspiracy.
(1) A person is guilty of criminal conspiracy when, with intent that conduct constituting a crime be performed, he or she agrees with one or more persons to engage in or cause the performance of such conduct, and any one of them takes a substantial step in pursuance of such agreement.”
Here is the key, “takes a substantial step in pursuance of such agreement.”
You and I could talk about our intent to commit a crime all day long, but the crime only kicks in if one of us takes a substantial step in the commission of that crime.
I am not trying to defend this crook, I just wonder if Fitz moved in too quickly. Fitz can talk about crime prevention until the sun burns out, but if he can’t prove the elements of the crime(s), all he’s done is make a bunch of noise and allowed the bad guy(s) to walk.
Having said all of that, Fitz is very, VERY GOOD at what he does and the Federal system has phenomenal conviction statistics. I sure wouldn’t want him after me. We shall see.....
You might be correct in your concern, in fact, I think you are, but it is still unfortunate that Fitz pulled out so soon.
There are countless reasons that may have justified having to bring the case out into the open. The secrecy of the investigation may have already been compromised and I suspect it was, and that this is the true reason Fitz called the ball the way he did.
BTW, I just hope that Fitz has far more than he’s thus far indicated. He probably does.
I agree on the timing and it probably was compromised. I can’t believe that it hasn’t been before this.
