The black community isn’t stupid. They get a significant income from the government through a variety of programs and affirmative action. The GOP has usually been against this. Why would the black community vote to reduce their own income and preferential treatment?

That massive repackaging campaign has changed his image enough that many people think that he is a conservative now, and he still has high positioning and name recognition at this moment, and is poised to take an immediate top tier starting position in the next primary.
If Steve Schmidt like Jindal then I am all the more for Palin. I am convinced, after reading the article on him after the election, that he was definitely behind the dissing of Palin... he is a Liberal Republican at best...

Because the percentage of blacks receiving gov’t handouts is not any where near 98% which is what Zero received in 2008.
I think that figure is around 25 to 30% receiving handouts.
American blacks as a whole have higher incomes per capita
than most countries in the world. So why do the 70 to 75% of blacks having decent jobs or business incomes have this knee jerk faith in democrats IDK.

There is also public housing, student loans via affirmative action, and other programs which set up a culture within the community even for those who do not take advantage of it. I mean if you have a group within a community (25-30%) hostile to the GOP due to this, they can quickly influence others, particularly if many of the others have friends or family members who have also taken advantage of these various programs. That’s what I suspect.
What do you think is the reason?
I don’t really care what Schmidt says about anything. I can see what Jindal says for myself and he is not another Arnold or McCain.
He’s even a stronger social conservative than Palin, as he has pushed for actual policies whereas Palin keeps her personal views separate from actual policy.
Perhaps I’ve been too abrupt. Let me clarify this subject the way it was done for me by a Constitutional lawyer who has been before the Supreme Court a number of times. I want to emphasize that the following is not my opinion but the result of research. (There are liberal immigration lawyers and immigrant activists who dispute some of the following, but they are wrong. It’s how they earn their living!)
To be a “natural born citizen” and eligible to be President of the U.S., one must meet two criteria:
1. Parents must both be citizens at time of child’s birth;
2. Child must be born within the United States or a territory thereof.
To be a “citizen” of the U.S. one must meet the following criteria:
A child, of U.S. citizens, born in a foreign country. One of the parents must have lived in the U.S. for a minimum of 14 years prior to the child’s birth (citizenship by statute).
An adult born in a foreign nation may become a citizen of the U.S. through naturalization (naturalized citizen).
A child of parents one of whom is a U.S. citizen and the other a foreign national here legally is considered a citizen (but NOT a natural born citizen).
A child of parents who are foreign nationals and legal residents of U.S. If both parents are foreign nationals here legally, then child can be registered with U.S. government with the option to gain citizenship upon age 18. (Foreign diplomats here legally register their childrens births with home governments - those children are foreign nationals here legally).
Any child discovered here whose nationality is unknown and who lives here until majority is considered a U.S. citizen upon age 18.
Any child of foreign nationals here illegally are considered to be the nationality of the parents country of origin.

If Steele is one of those “I support the Second Amendment rights of hunters and sport-shooters”, then I hope his bid to be RNC chair fails. This is the type of nonsense Democrats say, and it is an insult because the Second Amendment is not about hunting or sport shooting. It is about the right to self-defense, and about the virtues of having an armed populace. Hunting is important, but it is secondary.
If Steele supports racial/ethnic preferences, then that is another reason to oppose him. If the GOP thinks that caving on preferences, and embracing diversity-worship will win over non-whites, then they are sadly mistaken. The type of voter who is driven by such issues is a leftist at heart, and they will not go for a Democrat-lite GOP when they can have the real thing.
And a Governor or President should be able to keep their personal views away from actual policy in many cases. It is actually some of his views that will make him a difficult candidate to actually elect.
