Thanks Jim, did all that but FYI - still getting very slow page loads and lot of time-outs here. Beta won’t come up at all...
My cable connection shows 7 mb at speedtest.net so I think I’m ok, but open for any other suggestions.
Good luck to you too.
When the Nazi government bled Germany dry, they started invading neighbors to keep their economy going...
Thanks, if things don't load faster, I'll try the beta link.
Well, we suffered a genuine DOS attack about a 45 minutes ago. Completely maxed out our incoming bandwidth. It was about a hundred times our usual incoming load. Maxed out our entire bandwidth capacity. Someone is definitely messing with us. But our outgoing load has been two to three times normal all day as expected. I expect it to double again this evening.

LOL.
Like THAT hasn’t crossed my mind.

Thanks for the heads up Jim! I gave up on FR about 2:15 pm mtn and went over to finish surfing on beta and then it went poof as well. Gave me sometime to check something out after seeing a comment last night at ctv.ca about Madelyn Dunham having “lived through two WW’s.” I went over to “The Honolulu Advertiser” and lo and behold Jr said it! A genius he isn’t!
Quote:
Yesterday, on the campaign trail in Charlotte, N.C., Obama called Dunham a “quiet hero” in his first public comments after her death.
“Some of you heard that my grandmother who helped raise me passed away early this morning,” Obama said to supporters. “She has gone home. She died peacefully in her sleep with my sister at her side and so, there’s great joy as well as tears. I’m not going to talk about it too long because it’s hard to talk about. I want everybody to know, though, about her. Her name is Madelyn Dunham. She was born in Kansas in a small town in 1922, which means she lived through the Great Depression, she lived through two world wars.”

We want your Tim Hortons and we’re gonna get ‘em....
Thought so.
Can’t say I’m surprised.
Thanks for the tip. It’s screaming along like a scalded dog now.
Jim - the attackers will usually hit the pages that access the database. That is what causes most of the slowdown. Those groups of offending IPs must be blocked to reduce the server load. The pings shouldn’t affect you near as much.
You need to have them reported and stopped ASAP. What they are doing is a felony.
Change your main page settings to ‘headers’ instead of ‘text” (on the bar that says ‘brevity’
It really helps..
I was able to isolate two of them myself.. It is a DOS attack. Of course you know from where. 211.103.139.194 & 82.154.21.112
From my cold, dead,....oh wait.
I hate Timmies.
It's bitter.
ty for the tip, I’m at work now and have no control over my browser settings but I’ll try it when I get home
Bless your heart!!!!!
