Obama to MTV on His Job Killing Tax Increase: "That's Chump Change, That's Nothing"

The paragraph not excerpted is the thing many people continue to ignore, even in light of Joe the Plumber bringing it to attention:

Sway: Our next question is from Matt from Iowa: "If your desire is to spread the wealth around, what incentive is there for me to try to work hard? If I am only going to get more taken away from me, the more money I make, why wouldn't I just slide into a life of relaxation and let rich people take care of me? And a lot of people are asking similar questions, and I wanted you to specify. What does this mean exactly?"

Obama: What is amazing to me is this whole notion that somehow everybody is just looking out for themselves. I mean, the fact is, we just talked about student loans. When young people who have the drive and the skill to go to college can't afford to go to college, how do you think we pay for scholarships or loan programs? That money doesn't grow on trees. It's got to come from somewhere, and the attitude that I have is that, if we want to grow our economy, the way it grows is from the bottom up. You don't just give tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires. What you do is make sure the tax code is fair. I want to give a tax cut to 95 percent of working Americans, but in order to pay for that, I'm going to take the tax rates back to what they were in the 1990s for people who are making more than a quarter of a million dollars a year.

Following this link from the Camapign Spot, it looks like Obama doesn't even know what the top tax rates are now:

According to this site, single filers pay 33% at $164,550. The top rate of 35% kicks in at $357,700.

So the person at the magic $250K threshold is paying 33%. Can someone confirm?

I swear to God, I miss Bill Clinton.

LOLOLOL, I know what you mean. With Bill we could laugh about cigars and blue dresses. He lied, that was true, and he was impeached. No one wanted another Clinton and their frauds in the WH. But, this Obama guy is beyond deplorable. Without all the illegal contributions behind him that have bought his supporters and the press, there is a man who is just simply a non-achiever.

Obama was a lazy druggie who has a mysterious past, did nothing of merit in college, had two small, unimpressive jobs, and did nothing of notable record as a Senator. If elected president, it will be the longest time he will even have held a job. He is a flash in the pan and a con artist we know. Like all con-artists, he knows how to talk the talk. That is how they all bamboozle people.

We all know why and how he even got elected to the Senate, he was a useful tool for people of more power. They are the Gepettos who pull Pinocchio's (Obama's) strings. And it is Obama's nose that just gets longer with the lies.

With Bill Clinton, at least we could have fun (at times) debunking him, and the same with Hillary. In spite of all they were and stood for, I think they had some sense of decorum. Obama is rude, arrogant, evasive, obstinate, low-class and just increases my blood pressure and my anger at how he has hoodwinked this country and flaunted and our laws and our rights.

I am disabled, waiting in long lines tomorrow will be a real hardship for me. I probably should have made other arrangements. But I will be there, no matter what I have to endure. And, where I vote, I won't be a majority race. I just hope there are no problems in the voting lines.

All of this brought on by a man who has claimed that he is a "Uniter!" It is sickening.

Who's the chump with the change?

The change chump who changes as often his popularity polls?

But he doesn't offer any pocket change to his favorite half-Auntie or half-Uncle or his long lost half-Brother, does he?

People who have drive and skill to go to college ...? Are we sure of that?

Do you improve a an person’s drive to achieve something by handing it to them for free? Closely associated with drive is skill. Why should a person improve their skills if things are handed to them with no skill required? Kids don’t need for life to be made easier for them.

An increase from 36% to 39.6% is a 10% increase (it is a 3.6 percentage point increase).

The Top 5% pay 40% of the tax burden now and assuming Obama goes through with tax increases as promised, the top 5% will pay almost 50% of tax burden.

The top 5% pay $88,000 per year instead of $80,000. The bottom 48% (up from the bottom 40% who don’t pay taxes now) will get $1,000 from the government.

Obama will argue that these people already pay payroll taxes for entitlements (i.e. Social Security) and they are only getting 6% back per dollar earned. Okay, then aren’t you dipping into the Social Security Lock Box, Barack?

I could just see Barack saying, “But, But, But...” If only we had a competent unbiased media to some real investigative reporting. To think that my Local News does a better job of digging into a story (mostly on fluffy pieces, but sometimes they are good pieces of investigative work — hey, they’re local) than the national guys that are supposed to be getting their guys up from the ranks.

No, my experience is people who have to pay their way work harder to succeed than people who have it handed to them on a silver platter... I have never felt I was owed anything in life I was not willing to work my rear off to achieve and frankly I resent people who sit back with their hands out and think we owe them.

Well, mommy and daddy might. These little brats might find themselves in a community college if Obama is allowed to steal 40% of their income.

And that’s before self employment tax, sales taxes, self-employment Medicare taxes, excise taxes... The state and Federal tax on the productive is around 50%. My predictions: Next, you’ll see more attention given to wealth. First target: complicate access to IRAs and pension plan funds. Maybe toss in an excise tax. Long-term target: a wealth tax to supplement the income tax, or alternatively, a VAT, which taxes everything at every step in the production chain.

Get them off of welfare and give them a sense of hope? Or, keep them on welfare and never let them experience success for themselves.

As long as they are on welfare they are dependent upon the DEMS in control of the Feds, and so the vicious cycle continues. DEMS give them goodies and they in turn vote the DEMS back in power. A democracy will continue to exist up until the voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority will always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship.

“But it could make a big difference for that young person who is trying to figure out whether they can go to college or not, if we could give them more of a break or more scholarships or grants to go to college.”

No it won’t because
1) higher taxes result in lower revenues
2) our student aid program only increases the cost of tuition.

I hate to be ignorant, but doesn’t Congress have to pass any of Obama’s ideas? If that is the case we had better hit every R on the ballot.

chump change

Exactly the change Barack has been espousing. He calls it chump change to take a large portion of our income and he intends on leaving us with change in our pockets when he's done. I will be glad when McCain/Palin win tomorrow by a silent majority landslide. Prayers up!
