The BC would not tell us who the father was, only who was listed as the father.
Also, since the mother was legally married (as far as was known at the time), I believe the BC would automatically list the husband as the father, regardless of who the biological father might be. In most jurisdictions the husband of the mother is automatically considered the legal father, whether it was physically possible for him to be the bio-dad or not.
There is also the possibility that Mom might be a little unclear on who fathered her child.

OK here’s the thing-he goes and meets the family in Kenya 20 years ago. He goes back with his wife in ‘92, then invites the family here in about ‘99. A few years later Auntie comes back again to see his swearing in ceremony in 2004. Auntie calls him 2 years ago to say she’s in Boston, but apparently he doesn’t go visit her. Now if you have family who you know is here on tourist visa from really far away (and you work for the freaking government and are supposed to be aware of certain things) and you express no interest in visiting this woman, or seeing if you can help her out in any way?
One last thing- if you are going to run for president, or you’ve started your campaign, why on earth wouldn’t you check up on your family so to speak and make sure everything is on the up and up with everyone, knowing that whatever dirt is there someone will be looking for it??
I know sometimes people don’t stay in touch with family members, but for crying out loud she came over here from Africa, he is a person of means, and he doesn’t find out a damn thing about her circumstances? That’s messed up.

Lawmaker wants to know source of leak on Obama’s aunt

Conyers called for an investigation into the leak over Obama’s aunt.
WASHINGTON (CNN) – A Democratic lawmaker on Saturday asked Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to investigate a leak to reporters regarding the immigration status of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s aunt, suggesting the Bush administration may have been behind it.
“I was startled to read in today’s Associated Press that a ‘federal law enforcement official’ has leaked information about an immigration case involving a relative of Senator Obama,” said a letter sent to Chertoff by Rep. John Conyers, D-Michigan, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee.
“Even more troubling, the AP reports that it ‘could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved,’ a very disturbing (suggestion) indeed,” the letter said.
“This leak is deplorable and I urge you to take immediate action to investigate and discipline those responsible.”
