That would be the best possible scenario - McCain sticking to his guns, getting a GOOD bailout plan (no ACORN!) passed and then going to MS and giving Zero a much-deserved smack down.

The campaign is suspended, but it doesnt mean that McCain cant comment on the bailout. I hope they release a press statement, saying the the Dems put themselves first and Taxpayers 2nd when they put in funding of pro-Democrat groups like ACORN into the bailout.

I'd had just doused the BVDs with gas and was reaching for the lighter.

You do that every friday.

Palin should call a news conference to begin 30 minutes before the debate is scheduled to start. She should use the NC to explain McCain’s position and what he is trying to accomplish by working on the crisis rather than the debate. She should explain that the debate needs only to be re-scheduled, so voters will still receive the benefit of all three presidential debates.

Voters will listen to her, and be struck by her common sense approach and straight talking manner. The press will have to cover this, after screaming and whining about not having access to her.

It would be the coup de grâce for McCain-Palin. (Assuming she can handle all the abusive questions she’ll receive after her opening statement.) For the most part, she should only answer question directly related to the crisis and the re-scheduling of the debate. No questions about pigs, lipstick or babies or troopers. She needs to control the press, and do a better job of that than she did with either Gibson or Couric.

I don’t know where anyone heard that McCain won’t appear tonight. It’s 10am EST and Fox is now reporting that the debate is still up in the air.

What good is an infomercial when the whole world can see that you are out of the loop with very serious problems going on over in DC.

Obama has already flunked this crisis.

The media will spin this into more of “can’t do 2 things at once.”

Not a problem. This "nuanced" BS may fly with the liberal elite, but most people would get that McCain was heading to DC to either take charge or at least help out, and that the current problem is far more important than the first of a series of debates (which can easily be rescheduled).

Or as Geraldo said this morning: going to the debate is like trimming the hedges when the house is burning.

Bravo!

I knew Bush/McCain would raise the stakes.

Now, John McCain is the center of attention and is, effectively, in control of the U.S. economy!

I just saw a Fox News Alert saying that Barry was heading to Miss for the debates.

Gee, fiddling while Rome burns. Figgers. Hail, Barry! PS: Don't forget the arugula!

Now Fox is saying no word on debate... A million apologies... I can’t explain the banner Alert.

Good old Fox News (sic).

Extremely old news. McCain announced this when he suspended his campaign and his campaign has been consistent all along. No deal on the bail out = No debate Friday. I like him sticking by his guns. The media are idiots and all the “ifs” from the talking heads, just so much noise. Read his lips: “Hell no, I won’t go.” If they strike a deal (unlikely), he can go to Missippi (sic). Sheesh.

Media is the ones being the drama queens.. and ofcourse. Obama and his handlers out spewing this debate is most important thing to happen tonight. FNC just said Obama’s plan leaving in 55 minutes to go to Mississippi.

Talk about being a drama queen.

My prediction.
At the 11th hour, Barry will also pull out and say something like: I am glad John McCain agreed to my idea to postpone the debate while we work on this crisis.

Prediction marked, 09/26/08 @ 9:04amCST

If McCain appears, there is no doubt that viewership will be increased given the contretemps involved. It is going to be like the showdown at the OK corral. Maybe that was McCain’s plan all along. Will he or won’t he?

Fox News has reported that McCain will not appear for tonigh'ts
scheduled debate in Missippi

Although it would be an ackward format...McCain could skewer Obama
as a tech-phobic luddite...
McCain should offer to do the debate, via remote.

When Obama demands his free 90-minute infomercial if McCain won't
appear "on site", he'd sound even more self-serving than he
already does.
