What on earth, frankly, can the Feds do for special needs kids?
Why are they even involved in education, for that matter.
I was doing a lot of Sarah Palin listening the last couple weeks, including going to see her in person in Lancaster PA, and I was hoping for something other than the stump speech. It doens’t matter to me what Biden does; it matters that McCain Palin start outlining their administration’s points for us. I think that McCain Palin should elevate themselves and ignore the opponent; stop talking about Lipstick and sex education in Kindergarten.
I will admit to being the recipient of federal funding for my “special needs” daughter. The feds send money to schools and she benefits. I’m happy; her education is working out finally. In most instances having guidelines for Special Needs education is very critical.
In the ten minute clip posted above in #20, I thought just about all of that was Fresh material...
To beat up on a candidate for saying the same things in a speech when she has been running for a couple of weeks is just nuts anyway... They have a set of issues and ideas that they want to hit home, and most people don’t pay as much attention as we do...
How many times do marketers run ads to get their messages across?
I meant that I myself wanted to hear something else from McCain Palin...I like both of them, have been a John McCain fan for years. But I did want to hear something new...so I am glad she is doing it. Of course, when would she have had the time to work on a new speech!
Oh yeah, and McCain’s proposal to give the vice president A LIST OF THINGS TO DO is a great idea, both practically and tactically.
For one thing we are supposedly the party of life.
If we truly want people to have babies with special needs, then I think we have to help them financially.
I have a special needs daughter, and it is very overwhelming financially. We’ve managed, but my husband makes a good salary. My daughter is also not as disabled as others. She mainly has speech, coordination, reading, and writing issues, plus seizures. She is not in a wheelchair, and she is not below average intelligence.
This may be a state’s issue, but the states are not supporting special needs kids.
Parents of special needs kids are constantly fighting school districts to get appropriate therapy for our kids. In many cases in order to get minimal services, parents have to hire lawyers to get services.
Also, insurance companies refuse to pay for therapies even when doctors and therapist agree that a special needs patient needs them and the policy says they are included.
I know that I am concerned that if my husband loses his job, and cobra runs out, we will not be able to get insurance for my daughter.
Also, therapies truly do help special needs kids. Without therapy, my daughter would not be able to talk, read, or write. With therapy, she can talk. Not as well as you or I but good enough. She can read and write at grade level. She is also able to read enough to do math, and show that she is gifted in math. She wants to be an accountant, and thanks to therapy she probably will be able to.
I love Sarah Palin.
