I think you meant President Arthur, the man who became President after Garfield died as a result of being shot by Guiteau. Hayes was President immediately before Garfield.

It is not inability I assure you. It is a fool's errand to argue with a conspiracy kook.
The concurrent assassination attempt by a Confederate soldier on Secretary Seward pretty much proved that there was a conspiracy, that and the fact that there was a national insurrection still ongoing.
I only asked if you thought Mrs. Surratt had been guilty of conspiracy to assassinate the President.
