I accepted his explanation, too (even though I'm really enjoying the democrats squirm in a bed of their own making) then I saw the clip of Hussein making a derogatory reference to Hillary during the primaries & scratching his cheek with his middle finger while the crowd hooted.
I now think it is very possible that such a small minded man would consider making such a crude and sophomoric quip.

I believe it was done on purpose. But there is no way to prove so the McCain campaign should drop it,
It has been put out in the arena of ideas for people to judge.

Obama’s sin isn’t meaning. Its symbolism and timing.
Lipstick in the context of his opposition is Sarah Palin, plain and simple. Not recognizing that is to ignore the phenomenon sweeping the country right now, which may explain why his campaign has been off kilter since her introduction.

After Rick Lazio’s being pilloried by the left for sexism for daring to approach Hillary’s podium during the Senatorial debate, Hussein deserves everything he’s getting.

The problem here, is the hypocrosy.
It was ok for Obama to totally take out of context, John McCain's “hundred years in Iraq” comments,
but all of a sudden John McCain is a liar, when turnabout is done to Obama.
No whiners in the White House !

It doesn’t matter if he was comparing Palin to a pig. His campaign is falling apart and he allowed us to distract him all day over this issue. It shows an amateurish campaign. LBJ once told a campaign aid to accuse his opponent of being a child molester. His campaign aid told him his opponent was definitely not a child molester and Johnson replied, “I know he isn’t, I just want to hear him deny it.” We’ve had a whole day of Obama denying he called a woman a pig.

I get it. Either he is totally clueless , wildly stupid, etc, and meant slip a little shiv in her,
or he is totally clueless , wildly stupid, etc, and didn't meant it.
Right. Either he is, or else, um, he is. If I have offended Obama, or anyone else by thinking that he had a clue, a brain, etc, and was in control of his mouth and/or his speech writers, then by all means, I apologize.

Bull.
As someone whose job entails a good deal of public speaking, I can say Obama is full of it.
Don't just look at the words independent of anything else. The key is in how he delivered it. The way the joke is formulated, its only a single sentence and the last phrase - "it's still a pig" - is supposed to be the punchline.
When Obama presents the joke he begins "you can put lipstick on a pig..." and pauses. The audiences laughs, some applaud, then after this reaction Obama continues with the joke. He knew exactly what he was doing. The audience knew exactly what he was doing. And he's throwing a hissy fit because he thinks he's too clever to get caught.
This is evidence is his response today. Did you know what was suspiciously lacking? An apology. Even if someone meant no offense with a comment, the natural response is to apologize if it is learned that the comment caused offense. It isn't an admission of guilt, but rather just reinforcement that no harm was intended.
Not so with this slime ball.
His response is with mockery, sarcasm, and attacking the McCain camp and the media for the whole mess.
An apology is the last thing you'll ever get out of a man who thinks he's too clever to be caught.

While I think if you asked Obama a couple of days ago if it was a good strategy to call Palin a pig I am sure he isnt that dumb. That said as soon as the crowd reacted the way they did he should have caught himself and stopped it right there. But not only did he deliver the end like a punch line, he continued to pull out the wrap the old fish comment. On those merits I dont see giving him a pass.

Just watching the morons behind the Messiah start laughing INSTANTLY as he said the ‘lipstick’ comment, just shows that the “Anointed One” knew EXACTLY what he was saying.
Believe me, they weren’t laughing at “Bush’s failed economics” or anything like that . . .
They and the Anointed Messiah Hussein Obama were making fun of an apparently very pleasant and intelligent woman. Ugly feminatzis and politicians who’ve sold their soul to the Devil for unlimited, four-trimester abortions can’t stand her.
May God guide her and keep her safe.

You are so lucky that my years here on Free Republic have disciplined me to read the entire article before flaming, Zotting, and ripping somebody a new navel...I might have even paid you a visit to help reeducate you...as is, you are 100% correct in your assessment.

There’s a screen capture of a Dem party web page floating around here dated Aug 30th that says you can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig and it is specifically referring to Palin so the idea is out there in Dem circles. Sorry I don’t remember which post it was on but someone will be able to link it here I’m sure.
