...but I'm not yet convinced there was any ice age to start with... I see. Well, there does appear to be a good deal of evidence of at least some really big glaciers over most of Canada and northern parts of the US. You know, the gouges, scrapes and stuff? But now that you mention it, there doesn't seem to be much in the oral histories or myths does there??? Anyway...
Think of all the evidence there is regarding adjustments to calenders worldwide.
I'm not up to speed on the calendar business, so I'll hafta do some digging to see what I can see.

I've considered that, but I would have expected such an artifact to be much more linear.

The following site has a good deal of geologic information on this area and surrounding areas. It doesn't exactly explain
how the semi-circle was formed but it's fairly apparent it wasn't from an impact:

Looks that way, but I still wonder if the more modern soils are on top of something really ancient.
