I don't believe so. John McCain is also pro-life.

I think the decision was made more due to ethics and fiscal consertvative concerns. Palin ran on cleaning up the mess which was going on during the Frank Murkowski administration. She ran against a republican in the primary election and won, and most importantly, kept her promise once in office.

She's pro-life, but also pro-2nd Amendment, and a fiscal conservative. The pro-life vote was going for McCain, but he had problems with the 2nd Amendment supporters, and the Republican Party needs to earn trust back on fiscal issues. Darren McCarty

Many apologies to you friend. This thread has not exactly highlighted the best of what FR can be.

Quite the opposite in fact.

This is not our proudest moment.

There are other Biblical arguments against premarital sex.

I want to see somebody knock down the arguments against postmarital sex, eh? Too many husbands have discovered that as soon as they say "I do", she "won't". LOL

There are few against basic contraception, some Catholic doctrine notwithstanding. Onan has nothing to do with either.

What does Keith Olbermann have to do with this?

Upthread you said:

Given the despair that I am told permeated the country during the Carter years, I cannot say what I would have done. I was a flaming liberal in my teens and early twenties.

Now you said:

When Reagan ran against Carter, I was 11

Which is it?

One can learn to rationalize anything to justify one's position. I only just learned of this upon waking up in Japan this morning, a few hours ago, but I figured these things, these kinds of things, would leak out and start to undercut her.

It will be a combination of liberal opposition research operatives mercilessly digging into Gov. Palin's background at every level and bringing up ALL KINDS OF STUFF.

And it will also dovetail into the lack of due dilegence, of deep vetting on this choice IMHO, by the McCain team and McCain himself, which will create an unfortunate situation. In a sense I suspect he just tossed the dice on a whim. Not good. Ballsy but not prudent. What is too good to be true usually turns out to be too good to be true.

I was hesitant to get on the bullet train of support for her, but decided to take a wait and see attitude. I still have not made up my mine, although I would certainly prefer HER much more as President than the RINO McCain she is running with, which I stated here already (if not somewhat tongue in cheek).

I still like Palin, but, if true, this is not good.

What?

There are some long nights, cold weather and few people in Alaska.

Every post-pubescent and pre-menopausal woman in the neighborhood should be pregnant and proud of it.

Now, that is funny, lol

Laughter is like a medicine and we all need a big spoonful of it about now.

My concerns are of a political nature and not a personal nature.

With a choice between Palin, a true but mildly flawed conservative, or a RINO, which would you choose? Which would be more of a wedge to keep conservatives home in Nov, a RINO VP or a VP with a pregnant daughter? If you have a different alternative to the two above, what is it, and why is it more realistic than those two, and will it get conservatives to the polls?

Dear Freepers

Today we have seen the Holier than Thou freepers who have been attacking Sarah Palin all day long because her daughter had an out of wedlock pregnancy. Those freepers Saints are purer and better than all of us. Though they are very few in numbers we are so blessed by their existence on this forum. What can we do if they do not grace us with their presence, nothing we can do absolutely nothing without them and we all be lost in the wilderness if not for them guiding us to the promised land. So let us take a moment here dear FRiends and send our gratitudes for the Saints of Free Republic.

Above is a very sarcastic post.

Yours Truly;

Sinner, jveritas

Monegan can bitch all he likes. The bottom line is, he’s the one responsible for keeping the rogue Trooper on the streets for as long as he was there.

The media can’t cover the story to any real degree without the Trooper’s documented actions getting out there. Once that happens, the story’s over.

I have no doubt that what’s in store for Sarah Palin is going to make the Clarence Thomas fiasco look like a welcoming committee. But it’s not going to be over Monegan and his little Trooper-gate fantasy.

McCain must have been planning the whole scenario- start to finish, including the pregnancy-just to get the prolife vote that some of the country clubbers wish they could do without. The Palins are soooo cooperative-Don’t ya think? I mean, just think of all the years of planning and manipulating that went into it. /sarc/

In fact just few hours ago I committed the sin of fornication.

What's worse is that you obviously can't help but run off at the mouth about it after the fact. We all have our share of sins, but only the most crass among us air them in public.

its about not telling the American people, hiding it from them. Knowing people would be motivated and writing checks. Very bad judgement.

It's about personal and politically inconsequential matters. It's about understanding that no VP candidate will be perfect, but many will be fatally flawed (i.e. RINOs). In short, it's about perspective.

This is a big whoop about nothing. So, all involved are dealing with something they would rather not deal with in the best way possible.

They aren’t the first, and they won’t be the last.

Wow. I’ve often failed to walk the walk, but I’ve always admired those who have. You seriously need to ask yourself why you hate those who’ve managed to live moral lives, and not just pay lip service to morality.

FWIW, I’m not one of those people. However, I have hopes that I’m raising children who WILL be as moral in deed as they are in speech.
