Please don’t help throw VA to Obambi by refusing to vote for McCain.

I'm not voting for either one. They are both scum.

I think anyone who thinks McCain is a worse for the nation ought to get up the hormones to go vote FOR Obambi.

The only way to stop McCain is to vote for Obambi, donchaknow.

By voting for a candidate, I give my stamp of approval to their campaign proposals.

No, you don't.

This is the biggest load of narcissistic crapola yet.

By voting for a candidate, you are taking action to affect the outcome of the election, in which either the Republican or Rat nominee WILL win.

Seems to me all you are saying is that you have a deep need to "feel good" about your vote, rather than focusing on the impact of your vote actually on the nation.

So basically, I can choose an illegal-loving, flip-flopping, lyin' and panderin', Big Government Republican and an illegal-loving, flip-flopping, lyin' and panderin', Big Government Democrat? Pray tell, what exactly is the difference?

In a race between two liberal Democrats, there is no way for conservatives to win. There is only the option of duck and cover.

Borderline states will all go for Obamafraud... PA, MI, WI, OHIO, MO, FLA, and probably more.

Among those (he added glumly) you can put Iowa. They usually ride the line, and did go with Bush in '04, but there's always just one county (usually Scott, where I live, or Johnson) you can take out of that mix to tilt the state to the GOP.

if Conservatives show up and vote for McCain, will that be used as proof that a more moderate candidate is always the best fit for republicans?

No.

This is simply part of the ebb and flo of history. A similar situation occurred after WWII. Eisenhower was hardly a Republican, much less conservative, but he emerged as the right man for the time---that being, having just fought the war, then being in charge of mopping up, the Army of Occupation in Europe and so on.

Conservatives whined then too, and Eisenhower basically told them to kiss his butt, he'd find someone else to vote for him.

Which he did.

He did the job he was hired to do, and the cause of conservatism wasn't the worse for it in the long run---nor, more importantly, was the country (considering the alternative, especially).

Not too long and along came . . . Ronald Reagan.

So, no, the fact that a moderate candidate, or a "war" candidate, or whatever emerges because of the circumstances of history can't be used as "proof that a more moderate candidate is always the best fit for the Republicans."

That said, if a noticeable chunk of self-described "conservatives" refuse to support the Republican nominee, that fact makes it more likely that the party moves to the center a notch.

Like football teams, parties try to find a way to win. If a bunch of players keep threatening to quit on game day--and especially if they actually do quit---duh, the team goes out and finds other players to replace them.

“There is only the option of duck and cover”

Or...drink heavily then vote McCain.
why?
Because our soldiers would rather fight for McCain.
Because Putin is scary and Obama is not.

And even though McCain makes us want to down the vodka - he still isn’t a marxist, and Obama IS a marxist.
We can’t let a commie become president.

How Pontius Pilot of you!

However. You may think you can wash your hands of this just because you say you are, but it’s not that simple.

If you don’t vote for McCain, especially in a close state such as Virginia, you are helping Obambi get elected.

You can claim it’s not so, but it is.

You make many fine points. I hear McCain is seriously considering Ridge or Liebermann for VP.

If that isn’t enough to make even the most rabid McCainiac see that he is AT BEST a moderate Democrat, I don’t see what would be.

Your inability to grasp the logical truth that the absence of a vote for McCain is not equivalent to a vote for Obama...is what prevents me from taking you seriously.

Why would I want to do that? So I can have a car accident on my way back home?

Greetings rabscuttle385:

In a race between two liberal Democrats, there is no way for conservatives to win.

Given my right to vote was paid for through thirty-plus years of military service, I'm not wasting my vote upon a jackass in elephant's clothing.

However, to Juan McCain's credit, unlike Comrade Obama; McCain has reached across the isle to Republicans once or twice since 2000.
* Campaign Finance Reform, McCain's unconstitutional wolf in sheep's clothing, is a good reason to not vote for McCain.
* Juan McCain's gang of fourteen was another betrayal, that RINO stunt cost Ohio a young, but foolish GOP Senator.
* Amnesty for illegals. We are a Nation of Laws, why vote for a pandering politician who seeks to reward those breaking our Nation's laws?

So, with all politics being local, I concentrate upon supporting conservative candidates at the local level. If Juan McCain happens to win, it will be on conservative coattails.

Cheers,
OLA

P.S. Please add me to your Juan McCain ping list.

How Pontius Pilot of you!

Funny that you would bring up Biblical allusions.

Then again, McCain has proven time and again that he is willing and ready to be the Republican equivalent of Judas Iscariot, selling his soul and his country just so people could lavish praise upon "the original maverick."

Not the two hours between my school and the voting station in my hometown.

no absentee ballot?
That would take care of the driving issue.

Ahh well - I’m just pestering you :)

Baby’s done with her bottle. Time to turn in for the rest of the evening.
Good night! (morning - whatever)
