Why doesn’t Georgia blow the Roki tunnel? That would cut off most of the Russian forces supplies.

Too late. They are already through it.

Looks like the Georgians are a large reinforced regimental combat team facing a mech/armored heavy Corps (over 3 divisions reinforced).

If the other units aren’t mobilized, and if Georgia is going to lose anyways, I wonder if Georgia could make it to Moscow in 48 hours provided somebody ran them air cover.

Do you honestly think that Georgia would make it to Moscow, even with air cover (unless by air cover you mean a full on nuclear strike by the United States against Russia)? Do you know what Russian doctrine for a Chinese attack against Russia is? If the Chinese hordes were to ever invade, and Russia is not in a position to do anything conventionally against them, the only course would be a nuclear attack on China. The Russians are like the Israelis on that front.

You really think a nation that was willing to lose millions of men in WW2, and that was not even willing to give up Stalingrad even when they were all but defeated, would let GEORGIA get into Moscow?

Honestly?

Anyways, this Georgia/Russia thing is over. The only question is how much Russia will ask for, and how much Georgia will agree to. Already the Georgians are asking for a ceasefire and for the madness to stop.

The sad thing in all this is that a major US ally (Georgia has the no 3 largest force in Iraq) was left alone in the wind. There is really nothing the US could have done, but it is still an interesting 'message' to the other US allies out there.

As I said on another thread, the one country that should be paying the most attention to all this is Taiwan. Because one day China shall come a-knocking, and they will realize that the only nation Taiwan will have to depend on will be Taiwan! The US will do nothing.

Goodness, even Israel backed out on Georgia in this!

I honestly think that some men of stalwart volition, when placed in a no win situation, will perform extraordinary feats.

I also know that through faith in Christ, when such men of stalwart volition act faithfully and are in the right time, at the right place by His providence are able to overcome odds several orders of magnitude more severe than those being placed on the Georgians.

Meanwhile, those who plot to overwhelm their prey using contrived evil schemes, frequently fail to quantify just what unintended consequences might evolve from their evil machinations.

It appears to me that Georgia is overwhelmed, but through faith in Christ, regardless the adversary, are still able to remain eternally victorious.

I think Charlie Wilson tactics should be employed in full force all along the Russian border.

So what if Russian forces have crossed through the tunnel. They still need food, water, ammunition, and diesel for the tanks.

Blow the tunnel and those troops suddenly find themselves hungry, thirsty, and low on ammo... while the tanks become great sitting targets.

How do you blow a tunnel occupied by your enemy?

Things would work a whole lot better if folks treated the Russians and their military with a bit of respect and sometimes some deserving admiration. First, a bit of politesse goes a long way towards improving relations. Second, it might stop some of the folks around here from suggesting things that are really really dumb. One might have guessed that the Russian army could take and hold a vital strategic position, like a tunnel. The probably already had the tunnel secure before anyone knew they were going in.
