I wonder if these bears are “Bergman's Bear”?
I HUGE bear of Ice Age caver bear proportions, last reported on in the 1920s by a Swedish naturalist named Bergman. It may or may not really exist, its one of the more famous cryptids. I would be cool if it was, though not cool to be that geological team if it is that bear.

The population of Russia is declining, and most of the settlements in Siberia have been abandoned.

No wonder the bears are hungry!

Almost like a sci fi movie. More guns = more safety

I remember a (final)quote from a photographer going off into grizzly bear wilderness when asked about taking a gun. Something like “ I have my camera, that's all I need”

I’m surprised China hasn’t marched into Siberia already.

There are bears in the woods.
For some geologists, the bears are easy to see.
Others don't see them at all.
Some geologists say the bears are tame.
Others say they're hungry, and dangerous.

Since no-one can really be sure who's right, isn't it smart to be faster than the other geologists?
If there are bears?

As many as 16,000 native brown bears, cousins of the American Grizzly, live on Kamchatka, an area twice the size of Britain.

An adult male can weigh 1,500 lbs (700kg) and stand 10ft (three metres) tall.

Yikes! No wonder they won't come out and work.

More likely it's this - "A bear killed two geologists at the worksite on July 18, officials said."

You’re right...When I started reading the article I didn’t realize the bears were the same as our Alaskan brown bears, they’re scary.

The government should just simply forbid the naked shorting of geologists, as they with the bank stocks this past week.

Why aren’t these geologists following the script?! All the horror movies that I have seen, after the first couple of people get killed, the rest all scatter so that they can be killed piecemeal!

You would almost think that horror movies have been training us to do the wrong thing all these years!

I believe that bear was killed on one of the islands off Alaska.
