I do hope we will be largely out in 16 months. We should be able to pull more troops out before the election. I think seeing a good number of troops showing up in October with large victory parades will be a boost to McCain.

At least if they're stateside their votes will actually get counted.

Remember, Obama’s plan was that all of our troops would be out last March, and Iraq would be overrun by Iran and their henchmen.

Barack has moved his deadline every month. Eventually, he had to be “right”, because we weren’t going to have to keep fighting forever, and some day we’d be within 16 months of being gone.

Maliki is a man full of hubris. He actually believes he’s done all this. He’s done so little, and nothing that we haven’t allowed him to do. Our brave soldiers and Marines have done all the heavy lifting at great cost. The turd maliki can dry up and blow away for all I care.

Wow, no bias there. Germany... as in Oil for Food.

Too bad he didn’t squeeze the French in.

Give him a chance. One nation at a time is all he can kiss up to.

At some point, 16 months will be the right time to have most of our troops out of Iraq. Its just a matter of throwing around lots of dates around until someone hits the bogey.

New thread: Iraqi PM disputes report on withdrawal plan.

...a spokesman for al-Maliki said his remarks "were misunderstood, mistranslated and not conveyed accurately."

What’s up with this?

My guess is leading questions, responses taken out of context, media distortion hyperbole.

Hussein Obama will be meeting with Maliki in the next few days. We'll see what comes out of that. I have a friend who will likely be given access to that and if so, I will try to get the truth about that meeting out.

I believe this- not Der Spiegel.

The only place I ever saw troops far from harms way doing circle jerk things in RVN, like water skiing, was in Cam Ranh Bay. It was also an R&R outgoing and incoming flight area. So naturally, when I saw men water skiing behing Kerry’s so called swift boat, I wondered what the hell they were doing and where they were?

Now,not all in camps and bases far from the enemy are REMF’s, as jet jockeys and other pilots, plus medivac hospitals, etc. are often in more secure areas.

Regardless, we need them all, as it used to take about ten support types for every combat Infantryman in the Army. I think the Marines still train everyone to be riflemen first.

I just do not know these days.

Perhaps a person on active duty these days could tell us where this gym with basketball court is? Maybe tell us if this is an R&R center and/or rear area support facility?

Maliki is a man full of hubris. He actually believes he’s done all this.

This is very reminiscent of DeGaulle. Listening to him you'd think that the US and UK hadn't taken part in D-Day. This of course was to both build himself up and to help his country's national pride. Was irritating then and is irritating now!

All the good done in Iraq will unravel soon. Very soon. Look for large staged demostrations..burning American flags and so on. The anti American hatred will blare across the TV sets worldwide. Any sign of Iraqi thankfulness will be brushed aside. Any pro US policy Iraqi will lose breathing rights.

All the Iraqis helped by the US will turn against us. Stories we have all read about kids getting special medical treatment in the US will mean nothing...the kids will be off’d in Iraq..their parents too probably.
The Iraqis will turn on anyone every caught working for the US...Christians will be slaughtered.

Iran and the islamanazis will be the heros. A national hate America day will be set and year by year...for generations the grand party will be broadcast.

Saddam will be regenerated as a hero by the Iraqi people while the US/Bush will be forever marked as the REAL villains.

Sad days ahead for the families of our fallen men and women in uniform.

The realities of islamanazis and the entire M.E. culture completely escaped the snivelling whiners in the State Dept.

Once again our fine military did their job only to be undone by toetapping handwringing policy advisors in DC.
This is the crowd that had an orgasm when the “purple finger” events were the total rage. They thought it was time for cake and ice cream!

It will soon be apparent that Iraq will be an enemy again..and be a threat to the rest of the Gulf. But this time they will have Iran as a partner.

Here at home all the finger pointing and blame will be speared to Bush/the military and the next time we need to call to arms “Iraq” will be used as an excuse to hide our heads in the sand.

I'm actually to a point that I think Bush wants McCain elected so when he completely ruins everything in America the American People will be begging for the real Republican return in 4 years.

There, I fixed it.

You forgot...your crystal ball is broken.

BTW, Iraqi Sunnis are about to rejoin the gov’t they boycotted. The gov’t they’re rejoining better NOT be a lackey of Iran, or there will be **** to pay.

And then, there are the KURDS...

And Turkomans...

I see absolutely no evidence of anything like this on the horizon.

Thanks for the ping.

I immediately suspected that it was the media up to no good.
