Rosé, long dismissed by purists as uncultured plonk

Say it isn't so. Vin rosé IS uncultured plonk. I gave up drinking French wine when they stabbed us in the back, but it's sad to think that the French have lost their good taste as well as their loyalty to friends and their sacred honor.

Chacun à son goût, indeed. If French wines and cheeses fall into the gutter of bad taste, what will be left of la belle France?

People in the US have this image of French wine as all being high-end and expensive. But that’s not really true. The French drink wine like Americans drink beer- most of the stuff you buy there is the wine equivalent of Budweiser- reasonably priced and not terribly distinctive. Here in the US, there are plenty of high-end beers, but few people drink Anchor Steam or Dogfish Head every night, either.

I lived off of cheap wine, baguettes, brie cheese and crepes when I spent a summer at the Sorbonne (and strangely dropped about 15 pounds due to all the walking).

It did leave me wondering what kind of binge she would have to be on for Rosie to pass white wine. The French liking it is another thing entirely.

I'll confess when I first saw her twenty years ago on “Stand Up Spotlight”, I thought that lady had everything going for herself. She even produced the series.

Then her liberal spots soon began to show.

France is moving to the right, if Sarkozy is in power long enough France will be filled with Ruth’s Criss steakhouses and bold red wines, maybe NASCAR can hold a race there.
