A lot of the criticism comes from “The Anchorage Times.” They claim to be “conservative” but it's really just run by the old corrupt guard that are still bitter they got ousted.
However, should she be VP...No. Not enough experience yet.
(Also, yes I just registered and I know people are skeptical about new users. lol My job keeps me very busy, but I read this site all the time. It's where I get my news every morning. Keep up the good work!)
All I know of Palin is what Ive read on FR..and saw her on TV a few times. It appears she is popular within her state with most but that doesnt mean much in a national election.
Wouuld 4 yrs of McCain’s VP ruin her? Will she stand up against McCain and his goofy RAT pals? I dont know but what is cetain is conservatives are in dire need to find SOMEONE that’s real.
Talk of Palin and Jindal, two new faces on the national scene proves how desperate conservatives are for new leadership.
McCain wont get anywhere with a sitting Republican senator...most of which are pure spineless scum and most of the Republican guvs are just as bad.
We have a real mess with no good options.
If we can get a good Repub to knock him off in the primary, I'll vote for him/her. Anything to keep that Socialist Begich out....
I’m more than willing to vote for McCain in order for Obama not to sit in the oval office... That said my message to John McCain is thus... “PICK ONE ALREADY!”
That’s disappointing.
I love this for couple of reasons:
What a slap down.
1. The governor of Florida would not have to go through a phony marriage to try and convince folks he isnt light in the loafers. It has been sounding as if he believes he may be tapped for VP, hence the announced marriage.
2. Hillary will self-destruct from the total anger and resentment aroused by and in conjunction with desire for the possessions/qualities of another woman.
I dont care about gender or skin shade. Hillary does. As long as that person does not have his/her head up its butt like all but a few politicians do, I would find this an excellent choice.
Lack of experience it is said... because she has not learned to be a crook like the rest?
She will be VP and not president for now unless something happens to Mr. McNut. Should this happen, I am convinced she is a quick learner.
If true, this is exciting news. It was like when Bush picked Cheney as his VP. It made me feel that the country was in the hands of at least one adult (Cheney).
“Most people dont vote because of the VP...”
There were enough of us who were going to sit home until Cheney was announced as VP.
That alone did make a difference with many of us.
Just here for the pics...
No, can't have her. Turn over ANWR to Alaska and then we can talk.
I repeat: These comments are nuttier than a fruitcake.
McCain/Palin = 39 state defeat
FREEDOM...SOMETHING VERY FOREIGN TO MYTH SUPPORTERS
Liberty...
I am from the old school of Republicans who supported Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan...
They were not myths...
Look, she is ok but hardly VP material and is a country club Republican through and through.
Out with the establishment Republicans and bring on the new who believe in Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.
“Concentrated power has always been the enemy of liberty.”
Ronald Reagan
Ron was a fan of Teddy.
Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people.
When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know whether to answer “Present” or “Not guilty.”
- Theodore Roosevelt
But that Big Ear Socialist guy, he's got a lot of experience, now doesn't he ... and 'the Messiah' is running for Prez, not VP.
She has enuf experience to be the VP, if she can carry herself well in a campaign, and in a debate. These things I do not know, since I don't live in Perma Frost Country.
Maybe you Alaskan FReepers can tell us if Gov Palin is quick on her feet or not and can charm a crowd and perhaps a country ...
“The positive polling Mondale received when she joined him did not last until November, and they were defeated in an electoral landslide by incumbent President Ronald Reagan and Vice President George H. W. Bush.”
And that had to do with picking Ferraro and had nothing to do with Reagan? Your analysis is what is nutty.
She would give On the Job Training real meaning wouldn’t she?
No, it isn't.
Mondale picked someone who could not help at all, and that contributed to the greatest electoral defeat ever.
Despite your superficial glossing over of the subject, this is exactly what will happen in November unless McCain can do many things between now and then perfectly, and a solid VP who can deliver a state that is in the balance or up for grabs is what is absolutely necessary, not some dreamy “this will appeal to a broad spectrum of females” etc, nonsense.
She adds nothing of the sort, and would be a terrible choice that achieves absolutely nothing. - Just like Ferraro.
Still a very foolish statement. Mondale could have resurrected FDR and he would have lost in a land slide. Yes Palin isn’t needed to deliver her home state. There are, however, many states where 1-2% would mean the difference and her appeal to women, young voters, and social conservatives will mean the difference.
