The urban version is the "brush-em-aside" guard. ;-)
Sorry guys, you were right, I was wrong. Perps were black, vic was white. Just saw the videos.
I just saw the video too. Suspicion confirmed.
I don't think this is a "you're wrong, we're right" kind of thing. I know it is very un-PC to say, but stereotypes come from somewhere. In the absence of true data, applying them can be helpful.
Here is a similar incident in Portland, OR yesterday. 17 person mob goes bad on the Max (mass transit train). No description given of the perps, but given the neighborhood I’m sure they wear baggy shorts.
Frank Beckman of Radio WJR 760 speaks with Sheriff Mark Hackel about the arrests in Mount Clemens
Frank asked:
Sheriff, all the kids in the video I saw are African-American. All of your victims are white. Is there evidence that this was somehow [attacks based on race]?
Hackel responds: Its a question that we are asking. If its a hate crime and it happens to be a white person and the other people involved are African-Americans, we look at those things.
Beckmann inquired as to whether or not there is a law to charge them with some kind of hate crime,
Hackel: Well, thats questionable. I dont know if it applies to an unprotected class, and I dont know if whites are part of that. Im not sure.
Beckmann was shocked to hear Hackel suggest that whites are not entitled to equal protection under the law. A taken aback Beckmann asked:
You mentioned unprotected class. You mean white people are not protected by hate crime legislation?
Hackel answered that question by saying, It doesnt appear as such at this point and time that there is something that would qualify.
