No, you've nothing to base that on. Neither party was particularly supportive of Israel at the time, support was expected to come from Europe. That's what made RFK stand out. And what got him killed. It's not a party thing, Nixon recognized the grave errors Ike made in the region, and changed his outlook too.

I often refer to his murder, rather than the better known early 70s attacks. Of cours jihadists have been attacking American for centuries, the west for a millenia. But in retrospect RFK’s murder was significant. But no one looks back to it.

You can’t really call this a jihadi attack, since Sirhan was a Christian. Churches he attended at various times include Maronite, Baptist and Seventh Day Adventist. He also had an interest in the occult.

At any rate, he wasn’t a Muslim.

Arab Christian, there were a number of Christian terrorists at the time, most prominent the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, still around though now Muslim. Marxist organizations, as are all (?-am I missing anyone) of the Arab terrorist groups. Big on hijacking and airport attacks. Arab terrorist would be better than jihadist in describing Sirhan, same motivation, but Christians have gotten out of the business, so I’m not sure there’s much harm. And as I noted, it was Arafat killing American diplomats to free him.

Perhaps, we won't know, but it was Yasser Arafat who attempted to free him. And that wasn't about the mob, it was about Sirhan's good deed.

True, from US history, there was the famous Barbary pirates attack, a bit of it recalled in the offical US Marine song. But in the more contempary sense, what happened 40 years ago this week, really brought jihadi attacks front and center. Plus this and what Hilary said a few weeks back could bring in new interest in a movie called “Bobby” about people in that hotel that RFK got shot talking about the things leading up to it. The revisionists are right. (In this case.) Trained, armed Jews about 35,000. Trained, armed Arabs about 23,000.

In addition, the Jews were fighting on interior lines and had a consolidated command structure. The Arabs had the exterior lines and were about as uncoordinated as can be imagined, with at least six or seven groups, none of whom were really communicating with each other.

The theory that RFK, a guy from out of town, had any way to accurately compare total Arab to total Jewish forces is silly.

But you should call them Arab terrorists, not jihadists, you're confusing people since Sirhan was a similarly motivated Christian.

No difference in my mind, terrorists are terrorists.
