“She says she loves her job so much, it’s worth fighting for.”
If you loved your job so much, you wouldn’t have called out sick to play hooky.

Teachers who hang out with perverted moral reprobates like Stearn, and who cooperate with his show, ought to be summarily fired.

Anyone dumb enough to appear on that show should not be teaching.

It might have been in Dilbert where I read this. "Sick days are vacation days with sound effects."

Anyone dumb enough to appear on that show should not be teaching. I can't say it any better. Wonder what the subject of her appearance was? Probably not high oil prices.

If you loved your job so much, you wouldnt have called out sick to play hooky. Please . . .
A teacher's contract has a certain number of sick days stipulated in it, and this becomes, in effect, part of that teacher's compensation package. If the sick days aren't used, they're lost---in the teaching profession, diming out on a sick day is as common as chalk.
I heard the Stern show on which this teacher appeared, and I heard her call in yesterday to explain her case. Her firing had nothing at all to do with diming out on a sick day, but everything to do with appearing on the Stern show. The diming out argument is completely bogus; the administrators basically told the teacher they'd make her life miserable if she didn't resign right then and there, and the union lawyer there to represent her told her "it would be easiest" if she just resigned.

“I don’t feel that I did anything immoral, anything that would have caused harm to my students,” Jarry noted.
Um, LYING was once considered immoral. Making the school come up with a sub so you could go play under false pretense was once considered immoral. Being a skanky trollop used to be immoral as well.
Guess times have changed.

And speaking of political rallies - if she had used the day to support Obama or go listen to Algwhore would she be having this problem? That's a great question. I think we both know the answer to that, though.

Being a skanky trollop used to be immoral as well. Exactly how did you determine she was a skanky trollop?
To: Puppage
Ahh - appearing on a a shock jock show in an outfit like she did - and playing hooky = not the kind of character I'd want teaching my 2nd grader...
