Well..here we got a bunch who want to play demo derby and need a tank to be safe. Then there are some here who hate anything that makes sense.

The one thing they fail to understand is that they will soon be paying in excess of 5 bucks a gallon. They will not ride share as its a hassel (ya right) and they wanna continue to drive like a bat out of hell where ever they go. I think 5 bucks a gallon is to cheap. Better 15 bucks a gallon.

I own a VW Beetle diesel. 54 MPG and it’ll run with nearly anything on the road. Its got 320 thousand miles on it and it still has the compression it had when it was new-I know because I checked the compression when I changed injectors a couple months ago.

So the American cars can go suck and egg. They are JUNK I aint supporting no friggan union freek from downstate MI. They can starve. Besides that, a lot of the American car parts arent made in the USA anyways. The Germans make some of the best cars in the world and always will because they THINK AHEAD. Unlike DEEEETROIT.

How bout this..why not drive safe and put down your friggan cell phones while your driving, slow down, and we could all benefit?

Text away!

Are they planning to follow through on the Hydrogen-powered model, the Hindenberg?

That's nice...but wouldnt it be wiser to get our domestic production up so we arent sending billions to our enemies and don't have to drive these things?

Clinton locks up shale forever. Liberals and Juan McCainez lock up anwar. Jeb locks up Florida and Ahhnold locks up Cal.

Were pretty much screwed, folks.

unless it is part electric, the mpg will not get close to 235, and even then, if its electric, the mpg is a lie.

someone needs to convert the amount of KWHs pumped in when charging a hybrid. This can be used in an equation that gives the $/mile when running electric.
so if running electric costs were 500 KWH for a month
at $.02 per KWH, so that was $10 for the month.
If the car ran 400 miles on electric for the month
that would be
$ .025/mile,
then for $4.00/gal gas,
that would be 160 mpg.

and the car specs should call out mpg on gas
and mpKWH, with an estimated effective mpg based upon gas at $x.xx/gal and $x.xx/KWH.

either way, the greenies are a bunch of toads

how is a 1.0L gasoline car going to get better mileage than a 0.5L motorcycle? did it say electric

My 91 VW Fox GL was powered by an inline 4 1.8 litre engine and got 40+ MPG highway, and it was a very nice reliable compact car.

I would assume that VW should have no issues with a 1 litre enging getting close to 200 MPG based on the weight this thing will likely be based on the materials listed.

Frankly if you want to see every car get 50-100 MPG easily, without changing much else, just switch over to carbon fiber from steel.

A one liter engine and it will only do 75MPH? The geo metro had a 998cc 3 cylinder and would do 90+ easily.

The problem with these ultra high mileage cars is that they aren’t practical if you don’t live in an urban environment. I need a car that will run comfortably at 73 MPH for hundreds of miles.

For many, if not most rural dwellers in the USA, we require a vehicle that will haul rubbish to the dump, transport building and maintenance materials to and from our homes, and transport 4 or more people to destinations 100-200 miles away in reasonable comfort. We don’t live in apartments near the subway or even a bus or train station.

It is not realistic to expect decent public transportation any time in the next 25 years in my area.

So... We can improve mileage considerably, but if it won’t haul a utility trailer and isn’t comfortable on the super-highways, we can’t use it.
