It could be argued that animals have God-given rights.OK, I'll bite. Convince me.

People have gotten so intellectual, they’ve actually become S T U P I D ! ! Has a stupid bomb been dropped? I’d swear it has.
To: Notwithstanding
It could also be argued that man should afford animals similar rights to those that humans have. I think doing so is a dumb idea, but your logical argument is flimsy at best.
That _would_ be a dumb idea, further it's not my idea, and inexplicably here try to tie it onto my argument. Has nothing to do with my arguments. Remember someone once wrote here on FR (paraphrased) - "Those that claim to want to treat animals like humans really want to treat humans like animals." There's a lot of truth to that I'm afraid. And how much you want to bed that the folks who want to confer "human" rights to plants, don't believe in natural or god-given rights! See how sneaky they are?

Then all of the members of the Swiss Federal Ethics Committee on Non-Human Biotechnology should stop eating all plants and animals if we are to believe they are truthful and serious. I wonder if they can survive on mud pies?

Dig it, smoke it, eat it. Nuff said.
To: DaveyB
I thought they would outlaw eating animals first. They they would start on plants.
How do they plan to prevent animals from eating other animals and plants?
To: Jo Nuvark; Monkey Face
The Swiss Federal Ethics Committee on Non-Human Biotechnology says that humans cannot claim "absolute ownership" over plants; that "individual plants have an inherent worth..."
Oh, great! First robots and zombies--now plants! I suppose we'll have to accept their constitutions, treaties, peace accords, and what have you. Before you know it, politicians will be pandering to so-called Cucurbitan-Americans and the like; perennials will have their own annual holidays; and the term 'pansy' will become doubly offensive.
Maybe that old tale about carrots screaming when plucked from the ground is true after all. I wonder what sound a pumpkin makes--

Someone once told me never to make a contract with a
sociopath. Clearly animals and plants have something
in common with sociopaths.

You know you're in trouble when you find a dead Rhododendron on your pillow in the middle of the night. ;)
